I am glad I am open to experiment. Being Indian and having your chart casted using the sidereal zodiac, most of the readings I got from the sidereal zodiac didn't make sense to me. It was very general. But when I found Ernst's video and decided to research and got readings using tropical zodiac, I decided that the tropical zodiac would be better to use for me. No astrologer could tell me what I did for a living using my sidereal zodiac. But every astrologer could tell me my job using the tropical zodiac. In the end, you have to find which zodiac works for you. Vedic or western, sidereal or tropical.

If you don't mind, can you share more details about your chart, specific as to how and why sidereal zodiac failed? I am in a similar conundrum but vice versa, where the tropical zodiac is able to describe my personality fairly well, where as sidereal is able to predict my profession fairly accurately,

+xaotiko In sidereal, my Lagna was libra, almost in 29 degrees. Most astrologers thought I was a Scorpio ascendant because of that. I had moon in cancer in the 10th sidereally. They would ask me whether I was a nurse, had interest in healing or massage? I didn't. Also sidereally, my Jupiter was in libra which meant that I wouldn't do well with jupiterian things. But tropically, Jupiter was in good dignity and I didn't experience any of the difficulty predicted using my sidereal chart. The tropical chart truly depicted my actual experience in life.

Regarding the "powers" the Moon has, it would be interesting a video game called "astrology"when the player would be "Moon" facing this or that challenge, being able to choose this or that Nakshatra to "use" in the quest.

I was contemplating on a walk in a foreign city that I love astrology and I really want to practise it. Universe tell me a sign this is what I'm supposed to do with my life and give it quick and clear. Around 1 minute after I saw a big street sign: 'Mercury road', which is my atmakaraka. The sidereal signs have got their shapes in the sky. The qualities of the Nakshatras very much match with the actual stars situated in the constellations as we see. The Constellations each have associated vedic history with them.

Michael, Thanks for bringing this very insightful video to us. As a point of clarification, could you explain the Nakshatra Tara principle that you have alluded to in this video, in greater detail? As a starting point, has this Nakshtra Tara concept been mentioned in the classics? Also, as an example, do you use this technique or principle to predict events using the Vimshottari Dasha Lords and Sublords? If a Dasha Lord is the ruler of a beneficial Tara counted from the Moon Nakshatra while an Antara Dasha/Sub Dasha Lord rules a positive Tara again counted from the Moon Nakshatra, would that imply a period of relative prosperity, subject to other supportive factors in the char? A separate video by you made on this concept to lend deeper clarity would make for very compelling viewing.

Brilliant, loved it! My chart is a case of that dreaded "ayanamsa" question...using Ernst / tropical calculation, the navamsa lord of both my lagna lord + moon (cancer rising) is sun - exalted in 10th house. But in sidereal lahiri, my lagna lord mercury's navamsa lord is in the 12th house. one has the "poor" yoga, the other seems well off. I am still young and not really working in a career or anything (still at parents house ) to judge. ...but I really hope Ernsts style is correct :)

+Indeed Both systems can be accurate. It is not that one excludes the other, in my opinion. That being the case, an assessment of a chart deepens if you explore astrology past the Rasi Chart. Things should really be explored to a very deep level. That is when the real magic of astrology works. If you know excellent techniques, you can find the same things in both systems, from my experience.

yea so true I tried to learn both vedic and tropical at the same time she sent me her chart I went to the 6th house saw Jupiter and told her she might get fat. she started crying cause she did gain 30 lbs but that is not entirely true. That's not true about people not trying both systems. Joni Patry, like myself, did tropical Western astrology for 20 years, then switched to Vedic because it's more accurate. Her Neo-Vedic astrology is the best system out there, she is the best. I think astrology is based on the stars in the sky, not the seasons, otherwise it would be called seasonology. Nothing wrong with that, but call it what it is.

+Katya Faris Katya, I am not referring to Western Astrology vs Vedic Astrology. I am referring to the controversy which seems to exist over which zodiac should be used in Vedic Astrology. There are presently at least two main schools of thought. Both of these schools use sidereal nakshatras, but one uses a tropical zodiac with sidereal nakshatras and the other sidereal zodiac with sidereal nakshatras. If you test over dozens of charts you will find that you can get similar information from both. But there are many people who do not wish to test results and instead speak out against one or the other. The truth of the matter is that it is really a matter of preference and what works best for each person. There is no firm evidence in any of the ancient texts to support the use of either at the exclusion of the other. So there has been for a while an ongoing debate over which was originally intended to be used. I write this at the great risk of opening up the proverbial can of worms. I would like to go on the record as saying that I support astrologers using whichever system gives them the best results. After all, it is about helping humanity and whichever tool enables you to do that to the best of your capacity, then that is the tool that you should use..

+Michael Reed Astrology Again, it can be said of Western vs. Vedic, and tropical vs. sidereal. When Kapiel first did my sidereal Vedic chart he saw things that were not there in the tropical chart concerning life events, and that's what sealed it for me. Also, the nakshatras are vitally important in understanding how the details actually pan out in real life. Kapiel has proven to me through comparing my two charts that sidereal Vedic is the most accurate.

I have said that they both work in the hands of a good astrologer and that each astrologer should use the one which works best for them.
