I love this video! So helpful, thank you very much!! I have only just graduated and am finding it very difficult to meet criteria. Perhaps in the future you could do a video similar to this but aim at new grads?

Excellent advice Bec. I have found some of the same things sitting on a panel. Panel members want to find a quality teacher who is the best fit for their school.The 'cheat sheet for the referee' tip is awesome 👏🏼 Showing your page was really great and explaining how you address the criterion. I wish all applicants set theirs out as well as you do.I like how you don't use too much bold.

+Kafoople Land exactly right. As much as we want to help teachers gain permanency it really needs to be about the kids and the schools needs first. ❤️

Bec, Appreciate your thoughts on job applications. As our criteria in Victoria are very broad and overly generalised, I rather like the idea of checking where the school is heading.

What a fantastic video! Very helpful. Would you be able to do another video similar to this one but more so oriented towards early career teachers with not much experience?

Stephanie C I can add it to the topic list 😉

Thanks for the advice and fantastic tips. Just wondering if you can explain to me exactly where on the talo options you add everything prior to submitting your application. Thanks

Hi there I have just watched your video again and the section I was thinking about was the cover letter you submit with your application. Where do you do this in the taleo application format with the department? If I am still not making any sense I am talking about 25:52 segment on the video or call me at Northmead ps 96303133

+Silvia Azzopardi I add my cover letter in the same section as my CV. You can add more than one file in there. Hope this helps 🤓

Hello. Thank you for this video, it was very helpful. Do you know if you can have a retired department employee as a referee on your application?
@talkinchalk2 жыл бұрын
Hi Helen I'm glad you found it helpful 😊 yes for your second and third referee you can pick anyone you like. Just be mindful to keep references fairly recent and relevant. So if the person only retired a year or two ago that should be fine.

Thanks so much for creating this video, it was very insightful!! What would you do if you have limited experience for the criteria but a willingness and passion for do this certain criteria? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
@talkinchalk7 жыл бұрын
Caitlin Spence I guess it depends on the criteria. Sometimes theres a way to write it based on similar experience elsewhere. Do you have a specific one you're trying to address?

Thank you so much for this video. I have not taught in schools for 26 years, after having my 26 year old (3 sons, 2 severe disabilities). I have just finished upgrading to Bachelor of Ed and wanted to ask if you may have any tips considering I am now 54 and have had this huge gap! From full time parenting I have specialist skills in using some AAC and in areas of disability, yet I’m not sure I’d like to be with disability full time at school as I am at home. I have done a lot in 26 years, but not all relating to teaching. I’m thinking to just try to get some casual work because I’m doubtful about applying full time...yet somehow I feel more qualified than ever with my life experience and wisdom, creativity and time efficiency, but lacking in all these years...what would you suggest? Oh I also have noooo referees! Thank you....

+iSpeak2 Creative Education as a special needs Mama myself my first thing I want to tell you is how proud I am that you have remained connected to the industry and upskilled yourself with ur B.Ed ❤️ considering the big gap of being in a classroom I would recommend casual or temp blocks till you get back into a groove. Education has changed dramatically in the last 5-10 years and each school really can take on its own goals so it depends on the school you're in as to what experience you will get. Going casual will give you a great chance to see all the different initiatives that are out there. I'm so glad someone with your life experience will be coming back into the classroom. The knowledge and skills you have will be a great benefit to students, teachers and parents! ❤️❤️❤️ best wishes!

Thanks so much Bec, would you recommend just using tracker too or meeting with Principals or sending in my CV....considering how busy they are? Thank you
@talkinchalk7 жыл бұрын
+iSpeak2 Creative Education my school uses casual direct but Ive heard class cover is good too. Nothing ever beats going in and meeting the person who organises the casuals. It might not be the principal though. Could be the DP or an AP. I would call up and ask when a good time would be to come in with your credentials and meet whoever is coordinating casuals for the school. Makes a good impression and if ur lucky they will have something available and ask you on the spot to do a day.

Hi ,thank you for making things alot clearer for us. I am a casual teacher . Do I have to put down my principal as a referee? I also work at a Catholic school (as well as public). Is it appropriate to use referees from Catholic school work when applying for public schools? Thank you.

Great video! Thanks for uploadingI have a question about one aspect of writing application. I'm on a fair few committees at the school that I teach at currently. Is it OK to write about the overall results of that committee and how these results/outcomes benefits the school, or is it best to only write about my specific individual input/work on that committee and the outcome of that work that I did myself?Or is it OK to write about BOTH the individual (my efforts) and the whole committee (group) work in the application?
@talkinchalk7 жыл бұрын
Luke McCann great question! And yes look at the different asects of your role and as a whole committee. You could even split it into two different points. One about your specific actions and those results and then a different point about your collaboration and its impact with the committee. One would demonstrate things like your organisational skills and curriculum knowledge. The other would demonstrate your collaboration and interpersonal skills. 🤓 Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️
