Man just love the size of this boat! Hope they come out with a blackjack 52 that’s the same width as the 42 but longer. My only gripe with the bj42. Little too wide for the length and tends to catch air at speed. Also a big ul19 would be awesome as well! Looking forward to seeing your journey with this guy!

The only way you are getting a 48 inch deep V performance boat RTR is with polycarbonate and same thing for the monster called the 42 and at a price most can afford. Proboat is a company like most others that has to cater to a large market and the cost of mass producing fiberglass hulls is expensive and price of raw products to manufacture are increasing. Polycarbonate hulls pop out of moulds like a Pez machine and cover the seam with a sticker. If you want a carbon boat or fiberglass with the sky as the limit you build your own or go to OSE, or Oxidean marine and be prepared to dig deep but its worth it.

Well said especially if you’re not a Horizon Hobby salesperson, just imagine how much fun it would be to fiberglass the “self righting” cavity in the hull 🤪

@@scottdearmond5532 I didnt want to come across as attacking Polycarbonate hulls or the companies that make them, i am just stating how the process works , it's not a bad thing its just business. Companies like Proboat and Traxxas have given so many more people a chance to get into this hobby then ever before and that is a good thing, and thanks.

@@waynesbutler7834 the reality is this boat probably costs a chinese factory less than $20 to produce. People would be shocked if they knew the markup american companies are putting on these slave labor products.

I cut the front battery tray tab off from the 18" Recoil 2 to slide the battery forward and packed foam in the bow to hold things in place. Running props for more speed the boat was hopping and jumping but with the battery forward it settled down and screams !

Hey was just looking at an older clip of your dominator. You were running batteries forward rather than on the side mount frame. Did you make or purchase battery tray for up there? Does it still self right and handle ok?
@IRONCLADRC2 ай бұрын
I think it handles better with the battery in the keel, opposed to the flood chamber. Stock tray, and no it doesn't self right with battery in the keel tray

@IRONCLADRC thanks. Where might i buy a tray for up there? Mine didnt come with one and you just cant fit any decent sized 4s packs on the side

Hey B I have a question about the V1 BJ24, I am looking for a rudder bracket so I can run bigger props. Do you have a recommendation?

I used this 70mm rudder, it's shorter than the stock 90mm rudder. You can buy either size 70 or 90mm www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ose-80052&PARTNER=ironclad

I'd have to weigh both boats, but I wanna say my upgraded 42 is about 1-2 lbs lighter than the 48

Honestly, I'm interested in the boat, but I won't buy it until proboat gets the boat running smooth without those jumps right out of the box. For 700 you want an RTR boat, not a project boat...
@IRONCLADRC2 ай бұрын
Couple turns down on the trim tabs and the boat runs fine, especially with the stock prop, I'm running upgraded Props so I had to move the cog forward.. she runs just fine out the box

its pretty easy to know that without building it. SMC HCL-HP's have an IR of 1.5 milliohms and thus an output of 165A at storage voltage. 165A x 42v = 7,000w for continuous lapping which will be in the low-mid 70's range on a hull this large. speed running can will about 14,000w which will be high 80's - low 90's. electric boats dont have mystery to them they are very simple energy in-energy out. once you understand that (by analyzing data logs) electric becomes boring and predictable.
@IRONCLADRC2 ай бұрын
That's the fun part, pushing any given setup to its brink without letting the smoke out.. not every thing on paper works out the way it theoretically should you should know that! I'd much rather run boring electric boats than pull cords all day long on a gasser.

@@IRONCLADRC its no different than putting a 1000hp engine in a drag car. pretty much every experienced racer will know about what ET it will run. It would be like putting a prop on the boat to see how fast it will run. after a while you will know beforehand about what speed you will get from 4014 on 4s.
