Mine pretty much does that except talk. If I came anywhere near it to kiss it like you did, I'd wind up in the hospital getting stitches. Mines a rescue bird. Spent most of it's life outside in a cage. 20+ years with rarely any human interaction. Had her for nearly 7 years and she's come a long way.

@Rockaholic2373 жыл бұрын
@@atrev2157 we used to have one as a family pet when I was a kid. I’m not sure what my parents did to gain his trust, but I would put on a leather jacket and gloves to protect my arms from bites and then interact with him socially by extending my hand and inviting him to climb aboard. Got bit a few times, but that’s what the leather was for. He came around eventually, I miss that bird

Hi I have the same kind of bird but I'm getting really worried. The people that we got him from was from eBay and they said he was 6 but he walks very slowly and shakes. When he walks it kinda looks like an old man with leg problems. Unfortunately that people who had him before us did not take good care of him and he has a lot of stress bars because of it. His tail feathers are all very messed up and his back fethers are filled with black stress bars. He also acts very depressing until I start talking and whistling with him. What I also noticed is that he gets really angry if he hears something he doesn't like, if I say something he usually gets angry and kinda growls. But then when I stop he immediately kisses me and idk why. I'm worried about him and I would like your opinion on this.

What a beautiful bird. Two weeks ago down through several owners, one of these red-headed mexicans was rehomed to me. I enjoy watching your videos/tips. Mine is wary of hands and won't step up so I have stick-trained him. Strangely, he wants his head scratched a lot, and will gently tug at my finger/thumb to let me know when. I look forward to a long relationship with this handsome bird. Oh and I have never heard a louder screech from a bird! I was also surprised that this one is now on the endangered species list. :(
@TheDevilishDesires6 жыл бұрын
lovethosebudgies stick training is only the first step. Might I suggest also feeding time training? Do not place any food in his house...(i hate calling them cages) he's gonna be hungry...but the only way is through your hands. He's clearly not fully hand shy because he asks for scratches. *big hug to you* for rescuing instead of buying online or through a breeder.

Every bird is very loud , amazons are not quiet birds and can be as loud as a cocktoo. If you do a lot of research maybe you can handle one, and there hormonal seasons which are meant to be very bad.
@jiwonh.12168 жыл бұрын

@TheresaLongo7 жыл бұрын
ONLINE???????? BE CAREFUL. NEVER BUY WILD CAUGHT. ALWAYS SOURCE. These are animals who require a lot of FREEDOM and attention. They are very special/endangered. Do not by wild caught, do not support the wild caught industry. Inquire HOW the pet stores/breeders get the birds. Also this bird (and all of them) ^^ should have a branch/wood of some sort to carry out natural behaviours like bark stripping and burrowing in wood as well as beak shaping. These birds are for LIFE.
@TheDevilishDesires6 жыл бұрын
Never buy a parrot online, are you special needs? These birds outlive their owners sometimes by 50+ years. Rescuing, should be the only way you obtain a parrot these days! In California we have a law....animals in pet stores must be rescued. Breeders can no longer make money off of Pet stores. Also, buying any animal online is shady....you have no clue, no information and no time with the animal, in order to see if that animal is going to be a good fit for your home. People presume that caring for an Amazon is easy.... No, it's a 24/7 full time job. If your parrot does nothing but scream....he/she is Neglected and soon you'll get bit!
@JesusLover8005 жыл бұрын
Lady Phoenix I know your comment is a year old, but your attitude pisses me off. Super uncalled for to ask if someone is special needs just because they mentioned you could get an amazon online. You act like it's some huge difficult thing to care for these birds. My parents bought an amazon before I was born and I've grown up always with my parrot friend. I don't see it as a 24/7 difficult task to care for him. I let him out every morning to be on his stand and roam the living room, and I pet him all the time and shower him with attention. Parrots require love and attention like any pet, but I don't see why parrot owners like you are always acting like they are experts and are doing this difficult job caring for their pet. You aren't some bird expert that gets to shit on other people and ask stuff like "are you special needs?" Just because you are being a responsible pet owner. Rant over, I just see so many bird people acting like you and it irritates me. Pet lovers in general tend to take on this attitude that only they are smart enough to care for animals, and it's disgusting.
