Great interview, Simmo spoke well. He's seems relaxed, no-brainer because he doesn't have that BS hanging over his head anymore. I'll be watching the game, win loss or draw, West Coast fans here's a challenge. Fill up Optus Stadium to the max, go out there and give it a Grand Final atmosphere and show your love and appreciation for the great man and give him the farewell he truly deserves.

Bet they loved him when he bought the cup back. Hopefully he stays in WA and remains around the game, who knows could be a future Chairman at West Coast, wouldn't that be poetic. I was as frustrated as most Eagles supporters , but I am pi55 that he was sacked mid season ! The board backed him in for 24 / 25 so what not at least let him play out the season ? I will tell you why , because the board are trying to save their own scalps as they are as much to blame for the past few years as the head coach ! Thanks Simmo, ya CHAMP !!!!!!!!!!
@BigCatinBKK6 ай бұрын
Obviously there's plenty of blame to go around, but he asked if he would be there next season and they gave him a direct answer. What's the complaint?
@chinathesideyoudontsee81576 ай бұрын
@@BigCatinBKK That is just the media narrative they are running with, have you heard Simmo say that ? Now if Simmo and the club did actually come to a mutual agreement fine , but I doubt that is the case as he wanted to coach the rebuild, but out of respect for the club is biting his lip. The issue is , the board , team selection committee , line coaches and the weak pricks that refused to play for the team as they were disgruntled all contributed to the decline , but his head has been chopped and they cower away in safety .
@BigCatinBKK6 ай бұрын
@@chinathesideyoudontsee8157 Like I said, there's plenty of blame to go around, but the results since the start of 2022 meant that he wasn't going to be there next season. Once that became clear, Simpson preferred to finish up immediately, which is also entirely reasonable. Also, there's already been a bunch of changes before this, so who is cowering away in safety? Should we have sacked more senior players last year already? I really don't see the cause for complaint about Simpson's exit.
@chinathesideyoudontsee81576 ай бұрын
@@BigCatinBKK The complaint is the boards hypocrisy because they came under pressure. They resigned him until 2025 even after 2022/ 2023 without at least letting him get to the end of the season, for what gain ? Ok , lets see what pans out, maybe a bounce this week from emotion , but if they get smashed for the rest of the season, now who is to blame , still Simmo ? The board and the assistant / line coaches need to come under scrutiny as they play just as much of a role as the senior coach, he is just the face of the club. The club had huge respect in the comp as they had never overcome to outside pressure and fired a coach mid season , now that is out the window. P.S I think he had to go if no bounce by seasons end, just not in this fashion ! They should of backed him in publicly and behind closed doors said " you need to play more kids and if no turn around you are in real trouble for next season "
@BigCatinBKK6 ай бұрын
@@chinathesideyoudontsee8157 What's the hypocrisy? Coaches get moved on while contracted all the time. When you look at the results since the start of 2022, is it really so outrageous that he didn't survive until the end of next season? I find that entirely unsurprising. He was told that he wouldn't be there next season, so that brought everything to a head this week. What's the problem with that? The idea that there was "huge respect in the comp for not sacking a coach midseason" is a figment of your imagination. No one cares about that. Why would they? Some of your concerns make no sense.

Thank you Simmo for everything. Now - whoever is next needs to reset, reboot and refocus the entire collective West Coast Eagles family. Marketing, advertising, media and focus. We CAN and WILL rebuild into another great team and win another flag by the time the decade is out. It's happened before, and it WILL happen again, if we have the right people in place. Take no prisoners. Perform consistently onfield, show advances in development and performance and give us, the paying public a reason to clutch on to our passion and beliefs. Let's all reboot this revolution.

Anyone who doesn’t respect Simmo is someone I have no respect for. He got 2 kangas flags 1996, 1999 (runner up 1998). B & F, All Australian, North Melbourne captain for 4 years. 306 games He was assistant coach at Hawthorn when they won their 2013 flag (runner up 2012) He made the 2015 granny in his 2nd year of coaching our team We won the flag in 2018 (Simmos greatest year), All Australian coach The constructive criticism: disappointing last 3 years… I can accept that criticism. But Simmo gutsed it out like a trooper and he should be honoured for his legacy. Sometimes there are hardships in footy, it’s not always roses and sunshine… but I have no tolerance for people kicking premiership coaches while they are down. I adore what Adam Simpson did for us 1995-2024 Simmo has been involved in footy for 30 years, has been involved in 7 grand finals (4 wins, 3 losses…). So I have no idea where people get off cheap-shotting after this 😂. It’s an incredible resume so yeh… the trolls who are taking the piss haven’t got a leg to stand on

He played 300 games for the Kangas, so I'm not sure too much detective work was required to deduce that he'd still have a soft spot for them. He'll be getting paid handsomely to not coach next year, so no reason to go rushing into his next gig.

@BigCatinBKK6 ай бұрын
The WA newspapers are not the ones with the objective of retaining Harley Reid. That's for WC to handle. And when you say "blood stirred up in the water", the local media is not responsible for the results since the start of 2022. That's what led to Simpson's exit, not some trashy local tabloid coverage. I don't care for the coverage of Simpson's exit, but do you really think they should tailor their day-to-day coverage with Reid's contract negotiations in mind? How do you imagine these editorial meetings should play out? Editor: "We've got this front page graphic showing Simpson's recent win-loss record." Everyone: "Nah, that's no good - Harley Reid won't extend his contract if we do that!"

When they talk about Tom Barrass, why do they frame it like WC have no say in whether he stays or goes? OMG, will he have his head turned by interest from the Bulldogs? There are 3 parties involved here. He's not a free agent. He can't just take the best offer and walk. A trade would need to be agreed for a contracted player. Let's say he does "have his head turned"... the real question is what kind of deal would persuade WC to let him leave when he's got multiple years to run on his contract. Bear in mind, if Barrass had decided against signing a new deal and had exercised his rights as a free agent, WC would have received a Band 1 pick as compensation. So why would WC now roll over and accept something unsatisfactory for him when he's contracted and still a top-liner?
@biggi3st3v36 ай бұрын
Don't worry, the only way they trade him is if they get an amazing offer they can't refuse, not only is he contracted but he's made it pretty clear he won't go unless, and I quote, the rug gets pulled out from under him

Simmo is lying through his teeth when they brought up the passing comment at 13:25. Body language changes, starts nervous fidgeting, and stutters. It definitely seems as obvious damage control. 4 words that sounded like “You had your say” compared to “Mate, you need to get rid of that mustache” which he supposedly directed to Williams directed who doesn’t even crack a smile is quite telling, Harley Reid proceeds to smile and Daisy Pierce seemed confused. I suspect Harley and Williams may have been involved in the messages, but it will never come to light until they’re no longer playing at the club. Nonetheless, Simmo was an absolute servant of the club and he didn’t deserve to be sacked during the season. The performances during the 22 and 23 seasons shouldn’t really be taken into account, the real question is whether anyone else would have done any better with an injury ridden team in a rebuild phase and I’m not entirely sure they would have, Richmond this season are a perfect example. Yes, West Coast have played atrociously over the last few years but with the cards he was dealt I don’t necessarily think Eagles would have been better off without him. It’s truly sad to see him go, by far one of my favourite coaches in the competition, the man was all class. - Boris the Chicken Fan
