@@joemusic2882 The Talking Heads broke up due to differences in 1991 and reunited in 2002, as seen here. Since then Chris Frantz, Jerry Harrison, and Chris Frantz' longtime wife Tina Weymouth have been having a vendetta against former bandmate David Byrne.

I disagree. His comments were rather warm, and belie that. David is on the spectrum, and, as such, his feelings often do not match his expressions.

I saw them at Pine Knob Theater in Clarkston (Metro Detroit) for the Stop Making Sense tour outdoors in 80s, and it was ply first time I had seen the use of screens and images for back drops, of course now everybody does it. Saw D Byrnes American Utopia show in Vegas too, pre pandemic with my son. Tried to get his autograph by door roadies said he used, but he never appeared

I thought DB was and ass for blocking the release of that record, until I tried to listen to it and saw the packaging, I don't know what they were thinking but I can kind of see his point. I mean they could have at least not made it look exactly like a lame version of a Talking Heads album cover.

Jerry and David look genuinely pained during Tina’s speech. Wonder what happened. Money. I think Byrne ended up with most of the money cause he wrote the songs. This happened to the smashing pumpkins and bin jovi as well. Front man song publisher ended up far more wealthy.

It's what I call the 'AND Somebodies Syndrome'. When a band goes from being 'The Band' to 'SoNSo AND The Band', you know the jig is up and it's headed straight down to sewer town. David Byrne AND the Talking Heads Sting AND the Police Jeff Lynne AND the E.L.O. Phil Collins AND Genesis Sad but true that A.S.S. has destroyed many a legendary band throughout history.

That also happened to Yes. The singer takes half of the money for his lyrics, on Close to the Edge, and Relayer ? Two 'best sellers' albums that would be even better with no singing at all. And the singer, alone, takes as much as the four others virtuose musicians ? Rick wakeman got almost nothing from playing in such a great band selling millions of albums ...? That happened to many others bands too.

I'll respectfully disagree with that, David definitely had a unique approach to lyrics, but the music really grooved because of Jerry, Chris and Tina. If David were such a huge talent, why hasn't his solo music ever been as successful as the Talking Heads? And why were Chris and Tina able to create more legendary, popular, and influential music as Tom Tom Club? I think their respective success speaks for itself.

He should be in with P-Funk, but he wasn't really a member of TH. They wisely kept it to the original 4 (yes, I know they briefly existed without Jerry Harrison), because where would they have stopped? Adrien Belew was also an important member of their touring band. Brian Eno was like the 5th (or 50th or whatever) member when they made their best albums. Talking Heads are the 4 ppl that got inducted.

@@charlessmith5524 Dude that is so freakin weird that you mentioned Adrian Belew. Just earlier this morning, TODAY, I watched some of his solo videos on KZbin for the first time EVER. Until reading your comment right now I had no clue that he had any ties whatsoever with the Talking Heads. Not sure what even made me think of him but again, NO CLUE he was ever involved with TH. But on the other subject, sure he was not an original member, but he truly deserved a spot on that stage for his EPIC contributions. He should be recognized in BOTH Pfunk AND Talking Heads in the HOF. Nobody else could've helped put them on the map like he freakin did.

The HOF is a joke and they extort lots of money from the artists being inducted, but they give those side men and women one last shot at the spotlight. Band leaders (usually the singer songwriters) never want to do these things because they're still working hard making new music. But they often participate because it's the last chance in the spotlight for the rest of the band members. It's telling that Tina is the one jabbering on and on for 7 of the 10 minutes in this video.

The best thing about Talking Heads was the rhythm section. Maybe (like most bands) it's a team effort.
