Let this sink in: out of decades of incredible, mesmerizing live performance -- this might be the best 6 minutes of live Talking Heads music EVER

Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons, Packed up and ready to go Heard of some grave sites, out by the highway, A place where nobody knows The sound of gunfire, off in the distance, I'm getting used to it now Lived in a brownstone, lived in a ghetto, I've lived all over this town This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, This ain't no fooling around No time for dancing, or lovey dovey, I ain't got time for that now Transmit the message, to the receiver, Hope for an answer some day I got three passports, a couple of visas, You don't even know my real name High on a hillside, the trucks are loading, Everything's ready to roll I sleep in the daytime, I work in the nighttime, I might not ever get home This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, This ain't no fooling around This ain't no Mudd Club, or C. B. G. B., I ain't got time for that now Heard about Houston? Heard about Detroit? Heard about Pittsburgh, P. A.? You oughta know not to stand by the window Somebody see you up there I got some groceries, some peanut butter, To last a couple of days But I ain't got no speakers, ain't got no headphones, Ain't got no records to play Why stay in college? Why go to night school? Gonna be different this time Can't write a letter, can't send no postcard, I ain't got time for that now Trouble in transit, got through the roadblock, We blended in with the crowd We got computers, we're tapping phone lines, I know that that ain't allowed We dress like students, we dress like housewives, Or in a suit and a tie I changed my hairstyle, so many times now, I don't know what I look like! You make me shiver, I feel so tender, We make a pretty good team Don't get exhausted, I'll do some driving, You ought to get you some sleep Burned all my notebooks, what good are notebooks? They won't help me survive My chest is aching, burns like a furnace, The burning keeps me alive

The 80s were a GREAT time to be young. Would not swap it for another time.
@mikeashante80656 жыл бұрын
C Brown I'm here for a reason. But I've always felt the 80s was the worst decade for music. I was born in 87. The 70s was the best decade for music overall.

C Brown : I hear you . My daughter , who is 20 years old now is obsessed with the 80s, ( the music , the movies , clothes ) 😂 , much like I admired the 60s, but was too young to participate
@HungryH19514 жыл бұрын
@@mikeashante8065 "the 80s was the worst decade for music. I was born in 87. The 70s was the best decade for music" I don't like it, reverse it. Actually the 50's and 60's were the best. Then the 80's. The 70's brought us (all big hits then mind you) Terry Jacks Seasons in the Sun, Afternoon Delight, Muskrat Love, You Light Up My Life, Billy Don't Be a Hero, The Pina Colada Song, Your Having My Baby, Disco Duck, I'd Really Love to See You Tonight, Sometimes When We Touch, Torn Between Two Lovers, Precious and Few, It's So Nice to Be with You, Me and You and a Dog name Boo, Mandy, and Julie Julie Julie do You Love Me. Some really bad and sad material. The 80's looks like a period of musical genius's compared to that mess from the 70's.

DBs heart and lungs belong in the R&R hall of Fame along with his stamina.... if under a constant jogging routine you manage to sing straight and clear and never miss a tone or sound out of breath and even manage to sing loud and clear while on your back (which is very hard as any opera singer or stage actor will tell you) and never stop jogging during the entire number, you clearly have supehuman powers... or you are David Byrne...heck, he was a smoker at that time !!!!
@dimikaitanidis86124 жыл бұрын
@MrPitjoey i m guilty of trying a lot of substances and would object... coke doesn t give you this kind of stamina / physical energy , speed usually does... coke only hypes your brain up... and i don t think that he was a speed head...i genuinely think he comes up with all this energy on his own

OK, so I know that Chris Frantz (drum kit) and Tina Weymouth (bass) were married, and started The Tom Tom Club. I know that Alex Weir (guitar) and Steve Scale(percussion) were on again - off again members of the Tom Tom Club, but I never knew Bernie Worrell was. Was this movie a one-time gig for Bernie? I never knew until recently that he was the one playing in this movie. Byrne is such a presence, that he makes others seem to fade into the background...
