I heard Talking Heads for the first time when I was 15 in the early eighties. I was living in Kalgoorlie Western Australia. I went on work experience at the local television station. The station manager drove me in his car a Datsun 1800 to get our lunch. This song was playing in his car as we drove along. I asked him who it was and I was hooked. Great music and I still listen to them.

It Wasn’t sad for him. The ones who complain the most were Tina and her hubby Chris because they wanted to keep making money even though they made enough with their Tom Tom Club. They boasted that they made enough with that band to put their kids through college so how much money did they need?But I guess they wanted more. …. It’s true you have to have a lot of money to live in Fairfield Connecticut.So they started trashing on David after he didn’t want to record or perform with them anymore because they knew they didn’t have as much talent as he did And they knew they couldn’t make as much money without him. He WAS the Talking Heads. They just wanted to use him to get richer. He was smart enough to realize that. Tina Weymouth made all these snarky comments about him like that he “didn’t understand what friendship was.” She doesn’t either. She’s just a user. People were jumping in the River. It was like Woodstock on a smaller scale. I lived three blocks away and remember walking home thinking I just saw The Best Live Performance of my life. To date, this holds true. Stevie Ray Vaughan also had a performance at Antoine’s on the Drag a couple of weeks before his helicopter crash. That too was Off This Planet!

Unfortunately, that's never going to happen. Shortly after their induction, there were initial talks of a reunion, but when Jerry followed back up with David, he told him "I am never getting the Talking Heads back together!"

@@woodyreed2882 David's a weird dude. I don't mean that in an insulting way, but he's obviously very quirky and idiosyncratic. He strikes me as a bit of a control freak with a dash of bipolar. Again, not intrinsically bad things. He's made it clear that he views the Talking Heads as "his band," and "his band" is broken up and that's that. Dude's a bonafide musical genius and it comes with the territory.
@bigguspeepus2 жыл бұрын
@@nightofthelivingdon he's not bipolar, he's just autistic. And as an autistic person myself, it's very difficult to fully cooperate and commit to a group activity like a band or similar, especially for such a long time, and especially when music tastes change over the years between members. It's no surprise that there would be friction between the members, but even then it's definitely not entirely David's fault, as supposedly David and Jerry are still on good terms, but same cannot be said for David and Chris/Tina which makes you wonder if it really was entirely David's fault like the TomTom pair say.

I just met them and I think David is the most important person in the room. From outside the front door, looking back, enjoying what was --- it's understandable him not wanting or needing the 'changes' that would seem natural to many. Well, I know what I mean and am totally enjoying what I missed those many years ago, like this.

Talking heads one of the best creative bands of the 80s. Tina Weymouth played guitar before bass and as a bass player she has discovered the secret which is keep it simple and keep in the groove. David Byrne is a mean guitar player song writer and original vocalist.
