Rupert was my MP in Torquay back in the late 80's on a school trip to London we had a minibus of about twenty 14 to 15 year olds who met him,then the teachers let us loose in London for about 3 or 4 hours!!,how the hell we didn't get lost or come into harms way,God only knows,but 1989 was a long time ago, different era I suppose ,

I remember the debates around the Maastricht Treaty and as someone who disliked the Conservatives I was following the Euro-sceptic rebels without really understanding the issue at the time. But I do remember being disgusted that they lost their backbone and capitulated when when John Major made the vote a vote of confidence. All the principles and concerns raised by people such as Bill Cash just melted away.

Nigel didn't really let Rupert get going here but I remember an interview with him in the mid 90s when he predicted the rise of China in detail and what would happen if they were admitted to the WTO. It's a shame that idiot Bill Clinton didn't see it or he might have kept them out and we wouldn't be facing the criminal superpower we are today.

Rupert Allason looks very old here. I remember him back in the 1990s and under John Major. By the way : @01:42 "Norvous?" That's different. 🤣🤣🤣 Just to add that Mr. Allason did try to sure HIGNFY(a program which nowadays I think is rather past its best) and lost. He also got into trouble in 2001 for suing Random House, after claiming to have ghost written a book for them, and he lost was forced to pay damages.

Is this the same Rupert Allason, who lost his seat, after not leaving a tip at a restaurant, so all the staff decided to vote Liberal Democrat ???
@user-qf6yt3id3w3 жыл бұрын
If you look at the election votes in 1992 and 1997 it's more that Labour and UKIP both increased their share of the vote that caused it. E.g. 1992 Conservative Rupert Allason 28,624 49.9 −4.1% Liberal Democrats Adrian Sanders 22,837 39.8 +2.2% Labour Peter Truscott 5,503 9.6 +1.2% National Front Robert Jones 268 0.5% New Natural Law Alison Thomas 157 0.3 New Majority 5,787 10.1 So Allason had a majority of 5787 in 1992 1997 Liberal Democrats Adrian Sanders 21,094 39.6% −0.2 Conservative Rupert Allason 21,082 39.5% −10.4 Labour Michael Morey 7,923 14.9 +5.3% UKIP Graham Booth 1,962 3.7 New Liberal Bruce Cowling 1,161 2.2 New Rainbow Dream Ticket Paul Wild 100 0.2 New Majority 12 0.1 N/A In 1997 you can see a bunch of votes went to Labour, UKIP and Liberal. Note the Lib Dems actually lost votes too. That story about Conservative voting waiters switching to the Lib Dems is just something leftists like to believe because it fits their prejudices. I doubt they know anyone who admit to voting Conservative. Note that if UKIP hadn't have stood and Booth had told his supporters to vote for Allason he'd have won.

Not this segment but part of Nigel‘s show tonight Michael Gove was in Aberdeen because that was the place of his birth and where he was brought up in so even they would perhaps be tolerant of him,, just another slight observation he called it SIS and not what the vast majority of people would understand it is MI6 I’m sure he has a reason for that?🤫

Nice idea and some really good guests but there is no atmosphere of a comfortable place to sit down and discuss something over a pint. Its tidy clinical and cold. As a result your guests look decidedly uncomfortable. Anyway early days but i think they should work on that. Also i agree with many other comments that its too short.
