Here's another, enjoy. I can remember when Crispin Odey shouted from Johnson's office in Downing St. at the top of his voice "Francois, get in here now you bloody cretin". the little Mark Francois hurried in to the Prime Minister's office like a puppy on catnip, Odey stood up, towering over the dork, Francois and forcefully grabbed his left ear as tight as a vice grip, dragging the tiny fat little squeeking Francois over to the window, threatening him with as loud a voice as he could "If you screw this up again you stupid twerp, I'll drop kick you through this window, do you understand" Francois, visibly shaking and contorting his squishy little face into an exagerated form of his usual comedy gurning apearance cried "Sorry Sir, owch, I'll do it, I'll do it I prommise" Crispin Odey, now with his red face and teeth showing loud and clear, released Francois, pushing him over onto the floor then with the loudest shout so far "now get out of here and don't come back empty handed, do you understand?" he kicked the little crumpled schoolboy lookalike on the floor so hard, even I winced at the obvious pain. We often laugh about that day over wine and cheese.

When I went into the very first Wetherspoons in my home town, I decided immediately it couldn't work. No music, no Sky Sports screens?!?!? What was this, a joke? I couldn't be more wrong. Now in 2021, it is a chain that guarantees quality across it's 900 pubs. From the Lavazza in the coffee machines, to the large breakfast that has managed to keep it's cheap price for most time. Hey even the pizza they serve would make an Italian blush for it's price. I am teetotal, so it's obviously not the alcohol that draws me into any pub. I laugh at those who rip into the company for it's franchised attitude, knowing the same people will happily walk into McDonalds at any given time, with no criticism.

FACT!* *My country can now make trade deals with the rest of the world, as well as with the EU if it suits us.FACT!* *I can vote out the people who make the laws I have to abide by. FACT!* *MORE FACTS FOR YOU!* • The restoration of democratic national sovereignty • The end to the legal ascendency of EU law over British law • A break with the secretive, technocratic and anti-democratic decision-making of the EU, and that expensive fig-leaf of democracy the EU parliament • The ability to repeal swathes of EU law and revert to the more practical Common Law, the globally preferred system • Autonomy for UK courts, and the end to oversight by the overtly integrationist and juridically-unsound CJEU • Autonomy over the defence and intelligence concerns fundamental to a sovereign country • A closer relationship with our allies in the English-speaking world and less pressure to co-ordinate with the EU (for instance the German-led desire to cosy up to China), reflecting Britain’s historically global outlook and liberal concerns (ex: the recent offer of citizenship for eligible Hong Kong residents) • Politicians we elect will no longer be told by civil servants that they are obliged to adopt EU directives Creating opportunity • An immigration policy which can draw from a wide pool of talented individuals from across the world • Conversely, controlling unlimited EU immigration pushed by high Eurozone unemployment, will help UK wages to rise above the minimum that many essential workers have had to put up with since 2004. • Better wages mean less inequality, and more consumption, boosting both the economy and public revenues • Lower migration will ease the housing shortage, leading eventually to house prices lower than they would otherwise have been and improving access of young people to home ownership • The Turing scheme supporting placements for 35,000 UK students globally (versus Erasmus which sends to the EU only), aimed at students from disadvantaged backgrounds who benefited little from Erasmus Economics and finance • 84 billion euros saved which we would otherwise have contributed to the next EU budget round (Commission figures) • A competitive £, which has already facilitated a mini-boom in UK exports since the EU referendum • The opportunity for the car industry to build up domestic component suppliers and electric vehicle and battery manufacture, reducing environmentally damaging shuttling to-and-fro • More flexibility on financial regulation -the EU can take years to abolish regulations that don’t work. • Immunity from the budgetary consequences of any future Eurozone debt crisis • State aid no longer under EU law • The development of digital trade agreements with international partners • The recent trade deal with Japan, which improved the existing EU agreement by incorporating the most comprehensive digital chapter in any free trade agreement on earth - streamlining regulatory processes, encouraging data flows and building in robust protections for our creative industry ... many trade deals now signed. • Trade deals being negotiated with Australia, New Zealand and the US (and a quick end to the trade war with the last). • Probable membership of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which the US may also join and which will also bolster democratic countries in the Pacific region against the rise of China • Trade deals with developing nations, boosting Britain’s relations with high-growth regions of the globe, and compensating for the relative decline in Europe’s economic weight and China’s aggressive policies of investment in Africa and elsewhere. Regulation: • Regulatory freedoms which enable growth-promoting policies (e.g. freeports) • Freedom from restrictive and anti-competitive European regulations which threaten Britain’s flourishing tech industry. Food supply: • The ability to buy cheaper food from outside the EU, without having to impose import tariffs on things we cannot produce at home • The end of the EU Common Agricultural Policy allows the UK to focus its subsidy regime for farmers on environmental and conservation concerns as well as food production Hope this helps!

In the end after twelve months, they just left at a moments notice!! I once had the *most* hilarious food experience of my life in Five Swans Spoons in Newcastle. Me and the missus were meeting up with some friends there, and after a couple pints we got peckish and my missus oredered a veggie burger and a corn on the cob. What came out was one of the funniest/saddest sights of my food eating life. A dead ass, dry veggie burger, sitting limply between 2 nearly stale pieces of burger bread, with a finger nail sized piece of onion slapped on top of the burger. No sauce. I was howling out loud at her expression much to the confusion of the other drinkers on the tables next to us. But what came next tipped me over the edge. The waiter comes over and slaps down a big bowl, with what appeared to be 1/8th of a corn cob, with no butter and said "Hope you enjoy your meal!". I went back up to the heaving bar to ask "Can we have the rest of our cob please?", and about 15 minutes later the waiter comes back with another 1/8th of a cob in a different bowl. Needless to say our table was belly laughing for at least 30 minutes after this. Although it was funny, the corn cob was like £2.5 and the burger was something like £8 (with chips). We didn't make a fuss about it, because the amusement of the situation was easily worth the money. But, you can definitely get shit food at spoons.

WTF are you two drinking? If I was in a 'spoons' I would have sent back those cloudy pints! Shame on you, Nige! Wetherspoons is a wonderful UK (and Ireland) institution, amazing, democratic and great quality of surroundings and real ale - anyone middle-aged can compare the local 'spoons' to pubs in the 70s or 80s - a stale ale and a curled up ham sandwich in most of them. Well done, Tim! You're a terrific asset to this country, for your staff and customers.

spot on, pubs were a joke, the large brewers screwed the managers and landlords and could not give a shit about customers. The big brewers took over the local firms, closed them and sold piss....probably a lot of piss!
