Thomas Edgerley But that's what it all comes down to in the end, people with money have the power to make the lives of the poor better, but instead they blame immigrants for sucking the wealth out of our country. Look at countries like Denmark, the highest taxes in the world yet small businesses thrive, because government regulation prevents huge monopolies from exploiting workers for profit. The reality that no one wants to realise is that the rich don't give a shit about the poor; the born rich stay rich and the born poor generally stay poor. Our system works for the few, not the majority. Do you call that a Great British Democracy?

***** The born poor have great opportunities to become rich. The only people stopping a young kid from a council estate doing well in school, going to university and getting rich and the kids themselves and their parents. Is that not what fairness is, opportunities for all? Surely its less fair to artificially balance people's wealth in a way that throws money at people who haven't earned it?

@@Anawackp15 hahaha, omg i feel bad about how badly i am about rip into what you just said so i'll be nice, and i hope you would also actually apply some critical thinking here and recognise when you got things wrong first of all you implied that lorry drivers are 'low skill' workers, do i really need to say more here haha. well just in case you didn't know, driving a truck is not easy let along for a long period of time, people needs to actually study theory as well as practice before actually passing a test to get a license, so not exactly a 'low skilled' job is it? plus just a google search tells me that lorry drivers earn an average 30000 to 40000 a year, around the median wage of the UK, so not exactly underpaid are they? so your assertion that this dude saying that we should have more lorry drivers from outside Uk to pluck the gaps somehow means that he's a racists who want's to exploit a constant stream of 'low skilled' migrants is just completely wrong, and i hope you could swallow your ego and recognise what you said was wrong and nobody is actually for 'mass uncontrolled migration', nor has there ever been 'mass uncontrolled migration' in the UK in the past decades, and no one is going to call you racist because of that, look i am opposed to it too. but this is often a rhteroic used by the far right to try mask their policy of complete racial exclusion as merely 'opposition to uncontrolled mass migration'. so when people do call them out for the shitty racist policy that it is, they'll just pretend that they are crazy for saying this us racist cause they were merely 'opposed to mass uncontrolled migration' when there has been none of that. look, tbh i am prbly what the media you consume would portray as pure evil, but if you ever want actually engage with a real one in logical discussion and see for yourself that i am indeed not the devil, rather than just eating up the strawman they feed you, i am happy to talk more these stuff if you are interested

@@reubenl8810 exactly. The creation of pejorative terms like ‘champagne socialist’ and ‘virtue signalling’ tells you everything you need to know about how scared certain people are of these types of discussions, especially when it comes from people who aren’t meant to care about it because they’re financially comfortable. It’s an uncomfortable discussion for the anti-immigrant grifters like Farage because the discussion inevitably leads to questioning why our society has such a huge gulf in wealth in contrast with levels of pay and taxation for the majority of the population. There’s only one section of society that have the ability to create and influence such a disproportionate wealth gap and it’s certainly not the immigrant population. It amazes me people still fall for the idea immigrants are to blame while still believing in a system of free market capitalism.

Are you telling me that’s putting a strain on our economy? The fifth largest in the world? Unfortunately (for me), Mr. Farage makes sense on many levels. However, I would like to use the attention you have given me to remind you that a proper debator would eventually defeat Mr. Farage's arguments. The truth is, that people like me: young, healthy, educated and hard working immigrants are a big part of what keeps the UK a growing world power. I work for a company that exports very high value products and my job is such that no British engineer wants to do. You kick me out, you lose the #20k per year that I pay in taxes, so that some UKIP voter could get pissed in a pub in 11AM, on a working day.

LordPingas Why would it? You put a hard day's work consistently for years over years? You use some of your free time to give your career that extra boost? If so, you are a hard-worker, regardless of your nationality. I hope what I wrote previously did not imply that I consider only immigrants to be hard-workers. I do not mean that and I think it should take some subjective perception to derive this meaning.

LordPingas Most southern Europeans are and the proof is in the pudding: UK - a large, successful economy. World leaders in technology and culture. Italy? Spain? Greece? Bulgaria? Portugal? ... However, hanging out in pubs, I hear people's opinions and my sample shows a clear affinity for the unemployed to blame other peoples for their situation: their job is "stolen". Let me ask this: If someone comes all the way from the other side of Europe, he does not speak the local language, he does not have savings, he does not have a home and he does not have connections - if that person takes "your" job, doesn't it mean that you don't really want it in the first place? Another question: If I pay 20k GBP of tax in all it's forms and shapes but I don't get anything in return (our company exports products outside of the UK) - who benefits from this tax? (the answer is somewhere in question one) If house prices go up because of immigrants, who benefits? The immigrant who has no house or the local population = the vast majority of house owners. And so on and so forth...

I know enough of the words he uses to know he uses them out of context which means neither he nor his followers understand them. He works on the principle of "bullshit baffles brains" and its working like a charm. If you believe he's a smart guy then I feel sorry for you. Outside of his little cult following he's ridiculed the world over. You know he's in business with the people he claims to detest right? Companies house will tell you all you need to know. I'll even give you a reg number of one of his companies to get you started - 06843671. If you understand company structure you will see he is quite legally reducing his tax liability. Nothing wrong with that but it does make him an almighty hypocrite. Have a look and come back to me when you realise your idol is a phoney. It might take a while as he has fingers in many pies besides this one. As a percentage of income, I pay more tax than he does. Forgive me for thinking that the guy is a complete tosspot. Well, here's Russell's argument that I understood from this debate. 1) The services like NHS, Education etc should be manned adequately for such big but also prosperous country, like Britain; 2) These services are being underfinanced, especially after the crisis of 2008; 3) The fact that there is more demand for these services, than supply, the shortage appears and people feel that it is due to immigration; 4) However, makes an argument Russel, if there was enough funding, there would have been enough of these services for everyone, so take the money from the big fat cats in the City. P.S. I think that, despite the valid points that Russell made, exponential immigration of 2000s would have made an average folk to feel the stretching and the unavailability of the services named above regardless of the amount of money made available for them. Britain will do great after Brexit!

And 10 years later in 2024, we're still in a cost of living crisis and a housing crisis, with record numbers of young people either still living with their parents or flat-sharing in single houses that have been turned into flats in squalid conditions. Why? Because landlords can get away with it since the supply of people coming in is so high that there will always be a buyer. As a 15-year-old at the time this debate happened, I could understand and see this happening in the future. Why couldn't responsible adults? I stand CORRECT 10 years later, and it is sickening that something which affected me so much, and still does, is and was, so out of my control, despite knowing what needs to happen.

Hey Russel since you got lucky, instead of legislating wealth out of people's pockets( and i agree the richest ones do control the flow of wealth), go by example and become the ultimate Philanthroper, auction off all your assets, take a minimal salary, build a children's hospital on your land for kids affected by first cousin marriages, live in a small apartment on the land(for which you will pay rent), sell all your cars except for a van and an electric bike, which you will share with migrant, as well as your apartment , where you will live with 2 migrant families.. and a bus pass.. oh no private doctors, or dentists, just nhs provided health care, your family members must do the same, as they benefit from your wealth.. Self imposed austerity would be a shining example of doing more than token virtue signalling, and this example would be a shining light to other mega wealthy to do the same ,social pressure, and boycotts of their business' make them face ruin unless they give up like you did.. That would make more sense than legislating money out of the middle class, and destroying the tax base.. welfare cant' fund the nhs, ... Islam has rules that dictate the rich must donate a certain amount of their wealth to the poor, huge social pressure to do it, and if you skimp or cheat, god help you , nobody will do business with or associate with you, it's part of Sharia, perhaps it can be adopted into the Uk's legal system.. would love the flow of huge sums of money controlled by religious scholars with zero Transparency.. @@maxwelljames3573 Immigration singlehandedly support the healthcare system?... You realise without immigration the healthcare system would be smaller, right? Poorer demographics also put strain on the healthcare system, spiking the cost per capita, and immigrants as a collective group are the poorest demographic in Britain. Immigration is necessary to support an aging population, to network specialties in our workforce and it's also just nice to have multiculturalism, they add a lot to society. But immigration should be directly capped to match our GNI and birthrate. This is something that should be done for all countries. The issue with the UK is commonwealth visas. It's a direct result of Britain's colonial and imperial past that such a high influx of immigrants are coming, as they're coming from prioritised nations, nothing to do with the EU or refugees whatsoever.

12 years ago the council list in my local town had a waiting list of 2000 local families in need of affordable housing. So the local authority sold off some land in order for a new estate to be built with space for social housing. Also 15 years ago the local primary school was going to be shut down due to lack of need for it, so parents campaigned and got it stopped and it stayed open. Never any lack of school places and you could get a gp appointment within 24 hours. Roll on 15 years and the social housing built to cater for the local 2000 families is saturated with immigrants and there is no room in the schools and it can take a month to get an appointment at your gps. Russel brand is lucky enough to have access to private schooling, private doctors and not have to live amongst it like others do. He just doesn’t understand.

Nigel Farage isn’t actually blaming the immigrants though is he …he’s calling out powerful people who back mass immigration so they can have more control over the way the nation thinks and acts politically and so they can have cheaper labour. Ironically Brand dislikes these people also. It’s not about hating immigrants it’s about asking whether or not we need them and finding ways of existing as much on our means as we can and not relying on others. In doing so we become stronger as a nation and less dependent on globalism, the eu, and various NGOs for guidance. Again ironically Brand has begun to criticise globalism on his wanky KZbin channel.

The rich and powerful have boiled the frog on immigration for decades with the support of their lackeys in entertainment and media. Make no mistake, these policies are hugely destructive and that is the intent - to break down social fabric to make people easier to control. Every year the numbers increase and anyone who raises the slightest concern face the chorus of ‘RACIST!!!”. Shame on these people who have facilitated this crime under the false auspices of humanitarianism and moral superiority.

The popular idea going around is that immigration is infinitely good (no matter how you go about it) and if you want to so much as put some controls on it, you're seen as racist or far-right... what a load of bollocks. Europe will feel it in a decades time, I'm sure of it.

+Freeman I think his serious side is not what people want to see so it must be hard to use his reputation to open doors for himself but then at the same time go all serious (jokiness makes things digestible for a lot of regular working class folk but doesn't tend to illicit respect at the same time). Borders are artificial constructs from times when ordinary people first lost their "power" to centralisation of it in the hand of kings and queens and thus we've been "ruled" over ever since. People should be able to go wherever the hell we like on a planet that is all of ours. Should we get free handouts from other people, no of course not. But to not have freedom to move in the first place, that's no person/countries right to prevent. That is why it IS politically to the right to suggest controlling it.
@megadesu69
@megadesu69 8 жыл бұрын
That would be great but the fact remains that we still have these borders and these kingdoms... unless they are unanimously abolished or something, the governments are expected to do good by their people, of which uncontrolled mass migration isn't one of them... as much as the left (and I don't identify as rightist by the way) would like a multicultural paradise, it doesn't always work out... especially if the culture you're importing has radically different values to your own.
@leegarrard1578

Freeman I agree that its a problem for integration, especially those cultures that seem 100-200 years behind the (western) times. The view / treatment of women in those types of societies springs to mind. I just things there's a better solution but my own opinion is that you can't solve this problem when the way we set up our society facilities the conditions for mass inequality in the first place - leading to, amongst other things (and understandably in my view) to huge numbers of people thinking there's a better life on offer by coming to the UK. So, I just don't think it will ever go away, either legal immigration or the illegal type even if we did "control" those aspects that we can [control].

@@mattlucas8016 of course you should be able to keep the money you make, however i dont agree that you should be able to avoid paying back into the system that allowed you to make all of that money in the first place, Britain's tax loophole problem is far to big, Billions of pounds taken out of British pockets. unfortunately it 𝘪𝘴 the way life is for now
