this had to have been probably the best interview of the year. I hope that Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, The Young Turks, and secular talk watch this interview as well. I swear I wouldn't be surprised if Mike would want to run for governor of Georgia and win it too.

What you just said, was perfect. If I was a citizen of Georgia, I'd vote for Mike. These interviews are more important and more cathartic and actively progressive than the national debates or televised media. This is what matters to me. This is relevant to me.

@Deantrey

+Ryan Hartwell From my knowledge of him he's always like that. He believes in that, being open to disagreements. He spoke at a very conservative Christian church and he said you know we disagree on abortion. We disagree on gay rights. But that shouldn't hold us back from working together to solve the problems this country faces. He has values that he won't budge on for anyone, those are what he is running on and what he is fighting for, particularly putting political power and economic opportunity back into the hands of middle and working class Americans. That he is a man, with other views outside of those issues, doesn't take away from his central message, which is one that I think can hit close to home on both sides of the isle. That's part of his appeal. I think, if we can get over the right/left divide, get over all those little issues we may disagree on, we could realize that this guy is working for us, all of us both left and right, and then I think he will have a shot at winning. I say we elect him on those issues that we can both agree on.

+Lokezombie It's a noble cause; it's one I've been working on via the local level. Of course I've also listened to Sanders for over a decade [in my defense lived overseas before turning 18 in the US moved to Australia so my point of view is similar to Sanders who is similar to how Australia treats it's citizens. Don't think they do not have a fight to *keep* it]. GET LOCAL. No matter who wins. Go to school board meetings - even if you do not have kids; these kids will be working and running the nation when were older. Get local work across party lines; I actually helped get my county a bus system. Deep Red county in Florida - not one liberal politico and they know I'm a 'screaming progressive' -- buses! We as a community came together smashed a bad back door corporate giveaway and used that money *instead* for buses. [we had 19 million to use in very restrict ways. It was stimulus money too]. It doesn't take much. And you meet some lovely folks you may not meet otherwise.

Charles Ferguson That's why the laws need to be tighter on them. I live in Scotland, and we have had very few mass shootings. The biggest one was when a nutter in Dunblane shot up a bunch of school children. But that was many moons ago. We honestly think it is very strange to obsess over killing machines like guns, and scary.
@cnferguson5
@cnferguson5 8 жыл бұрын
Scotland already had a lower gun violence rate to begin with, same as Japan and Australia even before they enacted their gun laws. America has a destructive and immature gun culture, but laws won't prevent people from obtaining them. If the govt went on a mass campaign to take guns away there would be mass hysteria and violence

Mike, you're a great dude, and I love every one of your interviews. Can't say I know your music, because it's not really my genre...you're a good guy, though. But as far as "guns are our last defense against tyranny," man, you're going to have to get real. You might have had a case for that even as recently as 50 years ago...though I'd say 90 more realistically. You might have had a case for that. But you gotta get real, man. You live in the heart of the greatest military machine the species has ever known. There isn't an inch of anywhere you step foot that that machine doesn't know about, can't watch or can't go. And no gun belonging to any civilian is going to save anyone from "tyranny." Not anymore, and certainly not here. Not when a military member could call up a flying robot and have the whole building you're hiding in leveled as quick and easy as ordering a pizza. How's a gun going to save you from that? How's a gun going to save you from assault vehicles designed to resist RPGs and landmines? For God's sake, man...if these people can take Fallujah 10,000 miles away, how much effort do you think it would require to drop a city block 50 miles from the nearest military base? I don't care if you're Alexander the Great with a Gatling gun...if these people want you dead, you're dead. I'm not saying I like it, I'm just saying it's the inevitable consequence of living in a country which has spent the last century perfecting and automating mass warfare. You might as well start a riot in a prison cell. So if that's really your basic argument against gun control, then it's utterly pointless. Guns aren't a "last defense" against tyranny...they're a last STAND. Plain and simple. And yes, this is coming from someone from the hood in the South who loves guns, too. I have several, and I've had some of the biggest there are. Including a Barrett 50, if you're into that kind of thing. But as much as I loved my Barrett, and AR, and AK and Dragunov...I never pretended for a second they gave me a fighting chance against the most powerful military machine in history. At best, they would have been good for taking out a few dozen neo-nazi douchebags when they finally decided to take over my home town. Which would have been _great_ fun. But that's the only form of "tyranny" even the biggest of my guns could have affected in any way. I knew that then, I know it now, and I'd happily give up any or all of my big boomtoys if doing so kept one more Sandy Hook from happening. In a heartbeat. So...yeah. Take it for what it's worth, man. And keep being awesome :) GO BERNIE!!!!

+Jasmine Mueller A murderer that could easily have a gun too? Here in germany even some kinds of knives are restricted if you don´t own a small weapons permission(which are hard to get)! Realize it, your obsession with guns is one of the biggest menaces to your society, coming from within and as big a threat as politicians that try to divide people, as mentioned in the interview! ;-)

+Richard Rowe Tyranny isnt always governmental. Some blacks in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s armed their communities with military grade weaponry to combat the terror of the Ku Klux Klan. Domestic terrorism from groups such as the Klan is a constant threat in the world we live in, especially with the success of people like Donald Trump
@DylanCanzurlo
@DylanCanzurlo 8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Rowe The only reason I disagree with this is because you're looking at the military like an object; not capable of thought or emotion. Who's joining the military? A VERY large portion of the people who are fresh out of high-school and want someone to help pay for their college. These aren't some insane, warrior, military machine type soldiers. These are kids who want to support their country in return for much-needed money. Assuming by some chance enough of the government can agree to launch a military strike on its own people, it will never have the force to back it up. The second these kids get the command to murder their neighbors because the government told them to? It's over. No one is in anyway doubting that there's government corruption, right? It's apparent to both sides. Some people aren't okay with that, some are. Assuming that more than 5% of soldiers in the military will ever even listen to a command to go to sleep from the government again. And as much as it might sound hard to believe, I am nearly positive there will be support to U.S citizens from multiple foreign nations. You are absolutely correct that this is the strongest military in human history, but the guns and the tanks and whatever else is absolutely USELESS without people to want to use them. We have shown that even as the worlds strongest military, we are NOT invincible. Vietnam is a great example. Who were we defeated by? Russia's military? China's? Hell even a terrorist group like ISIS? No. We were defeated by poor citizens with little training. They essentially brought a knife to a gun fight, but still beat us. Take the 3rd largest country on the planet, a large percent of citizens in this nation are heavily armed, and add in the fact that there's no way we can legitimately assume that the military will take orders to turn guns on U.S citizens? It's essentially a sure victory for us. The only win to combat this would be nuclear weapons. That will NEVER happen. If by some miracle the whole military hasn't turned against the government at this point, this would be the last straw. At this point I'd imagine 10+ countries would be teamed up against our government. So you are correct that our current weapons aren't up to the same caliber, but it honestly wouldn't matter beyond it being a roadblock.
@DylanCanzurlo
@DylanCanzurlo 8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Rowe Okay see then I'm confused because your original comment was saying how guns wouldn't help in this hypothetical military take over. I responded by saying that it wouldn't happen. And now your argument is what..? I (not explicitly, but pretty transparently implied) that this would never be a problem. In your reply to my message you essentially just agreed. I'm not seeing exactly what points of mine you're attacking because it's not at all what I said or meant.

Part 6 of 6 is one of the most important segments! +KillerMike you've touched on so many important issues and why I support Sanders. Been following him for close to 15yrs now. He's never wavered on these positions. He has vision and most importantly his desire for a better nation 20-30-50 years from now compared to other candidates who seem to have a desire simply for a better library in their name. That's the difference. That's what FDR was all about too. He didn't care how the wealthy thought of him; he expected their hate and they still hate him 70yrs later! Sanders is to me a chance to have another FDR for our nation at a time when we *really* need one. He speaks to people from a wide variety of backgrounds and even crosses party lines. Living in Florida I witnessed the Democratic Party support our previous Republican Governor because he was a 'well known name' who wasn't a terrible governor as a *REPUBLICAN* - he was ousted by Scott though. State Dems active in the party here said to me "the woman was too old to win and Crist was better known" Guess what happened? Governor Voldemort Scott won another term because how the hell did they expect people to come out for a guy they worked hard to not win or worked hard to kick him out of their party? It was strategically a fail on a massive scale. Regardless of who ends up President at the end of the day we must teach our young people about getting active in their communities. That's why when Sanders said he can't do it alone? He needs all of us to work across party lines - like my district is red and to get a bus system here in my county I had to work with the far right. We need to teach our kids about their civic duty and impart that local politics *will* change your life dramatically faster for the better if we're involved. 2 of my kids are in their 20s. 4yr age difference both voted for the first time with me and voted for Obama.

Dear Killer Mike, I am an Australian. I listened to your whole interview with Mr Sanders and I think it was one of the best interviews with Mr Sanders that I have heard so far. I would vote for him in a New York second. He is the only potential candidate that can be trusted IMO. I think it is very important, not just to Americans that Bernie becomes the next president but to the world. I personally think that Bernie will be such a good president that the whole world will benefit from him being the next president of the USA. Please do all you can to promote his policies and encourage people to vote for him. We suffer some of the same things that your community suffers here in Australia. The rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. I used to think why vote, when the candidates all look pretty much the same. Bernie is a very different type of politician. It is also easy to see that bernie is doing all this for the people, not for himself. It's easy to see that a vote for bernie is a vote for the good of the majority.

I've been watching this interview with great interest. I live in a country where everyone can get healthcare and almost no one owns a gun. Every citizen over 18 can vote, is automatically registered as a voter and every vote is worth the same. We have more than two political parties, and our prime minister used to be a teacher. I already knew about Bernie Sanders. Sometimes I think our media cover the USA more than the USA media do. I'm glad Mr Sanders is familiar with how things are in Europe. Too bad I can't vote for him. Also Mike, you've done a wonderful job. You should make this a regular thing, interview other people. Great setting too.

This was fantastic! It was so refreshing to see Bernie get off his stump and further elaborate, flesh out and have a natural flowing conversation with someone as engaged, intelligent and enthusiastic about interviewing him! This man WILL be our president! don't believe the hype!

I just have to say this for the record.....Bernie Sanders is the MOST QUALIFIED candidate to lead the United States of America!......VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!......I too had no clue who Sanders was until recently, and it's crazy that he isn't talked about more because the man is a pure genius! I also had no clue who Killer Mike was either, but I find him very informed and highly intelligent! He definitely should consider getting into politics as well!

No matter what side of the fence people are on, this was a great interview. It was real, candid, honest, open, truthful, and inspiring. Matter of fact, I have this strong compulsion now to go get active in my community. Sadly, I haven't felt politically motivated since studying political science at undergraduate school, but maybe its time to get up and shout about something. Thanks so much to both of you, very much appreciated. Also, RTJ is the dopest group in hip-hop. Peace.

Being 17 I still have a lot to learn about the world and life. I have interests in economics, politics, and basically everything wrong with our country. Most people my age aren't worried about what's going on with our presidency or the racial divide we're having in the U.S. The fact that Bernie Sanders has the guts and heart to touch on all these subjects the other candidates wouldn't even go near is so refreshing. If I were old enough to vote you can bet on your life I'd vote for Mr. Sanders. I'm so grateful we actually have someone who is willing to be a voice for the people rather than be a puppet. #feeltheburn

I pride myself on never having voted = from an extremely unique perspective. Truly - I've never wanted to vote for anyone. No one has ever impressed me enough - until the first time I ever heard Bernie speak. Something about him - inwardly resonates with me. No nonsense - it's very refreshing in a parched society! I'm definitely willing to take a chance on this man, despite not believing in government of any sort or source. I cannot believe that these videos don't have more likes, and that you don't have more subscribers!!!!!!!!!!! You're killin' it softly with your song!!! Keep up the "Great" work! xoxoxo

This should be a more publicized interview. It was absolutely awesome, honest, substantive, and... I could go on. The myth that two such seemingly opposing cultures have no business joining forces just got proven wrong. From what I can see, the black community will be a big force of support for Bernie Sanders (hello, Nina Turner & Cornell West). AND this is on top of the overwhelming youth support, and the overwhelming citizen support (hello, 2 million individual donations?!). This was just beautiful, and I will share the shit out of this.

It's not very often that I read the comments on a youtube video. It is even less often that I find myself feeling the need to comment on a youtube video. This entire series has been nothing shy of an inspiration to what this country, and world in turn, has to offer. Killer Mike said it right, Bernie Sanders is preaching the same things that biblical Jesus was preaching. I don't know exactly what it is I want to say, but both of these men have invoked a sense of urgency within me and I can only hope that more people watch this video and have the same fire light inside them.

I really loved this discussion. I can't really understand how so many people think of Bernie's ideas as "out there". Being an idealist does not automatically mean that you lose touch with reality. Here we have a politician who sees so many things that are wrong with a country and tries to find the best solution to fix them. As he says himself realizing that change will take coordinated efforts from the American people and it won't happen in a day. Isn't it better to have someone as president who understands the big issues and is enthusiastic about solving them than someone who does not want to risk stepping on people's toes to gain votes? I'm not American so maybe my opinion isn't even relevant but it seems to me that Bernie is not just a politician, he represents an opportunity to set the country on a better path.
