Thank you Killer Mike for giving an educated perspective from the Black community!! And anyone who wasn't aware of the "Brown eyes v Blue eyes" experiment really should look it up. It shows how prejudice works in the country.
@dethisbtfl9 жыл бұрын
+masterrance the video of the experiment is mandatory for my education program... crazy insightful
+masterrance The Brown Vs. Blue experiment was carried out DECADES ago. If you haven't noticed, blacks continuously get scholarships, jobs, etc. over more deserving non-blacks due to Affirmative Action. Also, we have a BLACK PRESIDENT in the White House.
@masterrance9 жыл бұрын
+Kelly Marie Did you even listen to what Killer Mike was saying? 1.Affirmative Action doesn't place under qualified Black people into schools and jobs. They just take into account hiring diversity when choosing between EQUAL QUALIFYING people. Works for all minority groups and includes women in both schools and workforce. 2. Brown V Blue was a generalized experiment on the youth, whom had little concept of racism and showed what happened when one perceive a group as superior/inferior to their own. Not only do kids still behave in this manner today, but the idea was to broaden racism into general prejudice, which is still present today. Also watch what Bruce posted because that's another example of how ignorance hurts others. 3. Yes and clearly everybody loves Obama as president right? And having 1 out of 44 presidents not be white somehow proves racism is over too. (sarcasm) and just to add on 4. 2015 was full of examples of prejudice still occurring. Can also bring up structural racism, which Killer Mike gave the highway example in Chicago, but includes many other cities went through as well. I live in the California Bay Area, somewhere known for diversity, and I can bring up why Certain areas in cities are better than others, or during the 60s-90s how minorities weren't allowed to live in these nice areas (San Francisco, North Berkeley, San Leandro, Hayward, OAKLAND[yes Oakland has high income areas despite the crime rates]). And this transcend just African Americans as even Latinos and Asians suffered from this as well. Also Look up CointelPro and you would see why the Black Panthers aren't around anymore but somehow Cliven Bundy and his son a year later can rally fellow caucasians and make actual threats to shoot Police for entering land that the Bundy's don't own, where as the Black Panther party just wanted to protect themselves from abuse and brutality. And see how while the Panthers were peaceful, they were seen as a violent gang while the KKK is still considered a PEACEFUL organization. And if you're looking for more abuse toward minorities, you can honestly just watch the news because 2015 had many examples of injustice. Even taking out Ferguson and Trayvon Martin, there are many more examples.
@masterrance9 жыл бұрын
+Kelly Marie So just incase you didn't read all those counterarguments, let me just say that your blind ignorance and refusal to listen to what the rapper was discussing is why we are still having problems till this day. So do yourself a favor and don't assume progress toward diversity equals the end of racism. Just by your comment alone proves we have a long way to go.

he gave excellent advice on how to change the world, find a kid who's struggling and help him succeed, don't give him gifts to make yourself feel good, show him the path that brought you success, so he can do it too
@MrChuckieWuckie4 жыл бұрын
Michael Combrink That IS great advice. That’s exactly what I, as a FATHER am doing for my children. I fully agree these inner city kids need good mentors... and I have no problem with those mentors being white... or black... or Asian. As long as they’re good people. What I take issue with is, that Colbert and the LEFT... FAiLED in asking the tough questions. Colbert DIDNT ONCE ask about the absence of Black Fathers. It’s THEIR responsibility, NOT THE WHITE mans, to raise YOUR CHILDREN. If you want the secret to success? RAISE YOUR CHILDREN to take responsibility for their own plight in life. And if the “white man” wanted to “hold you back”, why are there so many examples of successful black people. I work with lots of people, from lots of different creeds and colors. They’re successful because they TRY, TRY, TRY until they succeed. In a country of 330 Million people, there will always be individuals who make bad decisions. Bad cops, bad citizens, racist people. The BS “Racism is an epidemic” is a crutch... an excuse for people who don’t want to take responsibility for their their own life, including their own failures. Forget about practicing what you preach, the successful left wing white people need to start “a Preaching what you practice”; Hard Work, Personal Responsibility. The guest sounds like he has his head screwed on straight. Great, now start preaching a message of “be a good father” with the “be a big brother of big sister”.

So you think the government or society has built freeways to isolate black members of society. Yet both sides of a freeway have poor housing. Maybe its because the government buys the housing ahead of freeway building the ones that sell buy better houses away from proposed freeway construction. Then due to the proximity to the highway the housing wont sell or rent.

I know society makes everyone think being religious is for deluded people but please open your eyes it's not.. I plead to yall just say a prayer to God commit all your worries fears, regrets and deepest problems into his hands.. read the bible and keep praying to him in Jesus Name .. I promise you your life will change for the better I promise you I was pondering on suicide, I wanted to run away from home but I prayed to the Lord God and all of a sudden ..things started moving forward in my life.. I've done so many evil things in my past.. things that i think any other person would kill me for if they were God but God kept me alive and well I dont want to be seen as the deluded guy in the comment section but I'm literally pouring my heart out I thought my sins were too bad and that I will never succeed in my dreams.. but I forgot that in John 3:16 it says "For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life" Believe that Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins to be forgiven and to give us eternal life in heaven You may think I'm crazy but I'm begging just try this read the bible pray and watch yourself rise to heights you never expected Dont fall into the tricks of the world I'm begging I apologise for this being too long Imma try and send this out to loads of comments sections.. I hope this touched your soul.. if it did please like the message and comment let's make it togetherrrr

I'm kind of amazed how quickly he can speak intelligently without slipping up. A lot of public speakers know the trick of slowing down to add gravitas, but Mike is so on point with his ideas and message that he just goes for it and doesn't miss a step or lose his train of thought. This is incredibly hard to do, not even considering the size of the platform or the audience adding to nerves. And if you try to say it's just his rap ability, I can show you dozens of famous rappers who sound like they're in slow motion when they have to answer questions or hold a conversation.

+Knute's Niche Lacking your experience, I have only heard this one clip from "Killer Mike" Render, and yes, you are right, he didn't mention the core issue of child abuse and neglect. Not even once. He didn't really mention any of the other reasons why things are as they have become, either. Instead, he seemed to be following the advice found in the old Japanese expression, "Fix the problem, not the blame". His suggestions are clearly made with this idea in mind. As such, I'm not ready to trash this man's efforts and suggestions simply because he doesn't waste my time with a historical litany of who's at fault, who created this mess, who is perpetrating it today, and who the worst offenders are. Other than historical sociologists, or those looking for an excuse to do nothing, who gives a fuck?
@georgebaumann8 жыл бұрын
+Knute's Niche Again I must defer to your experience, as I have no knowledge of Mike's rap lyrics or what they "intend to say" in the literary sense. I took a moment to read "Run The Jewels", though. I believe it has some artistic merit in that it characterizes, (by employing the obligatory, incendiary language and asymmetrical quasi-rhymes of rap), the conditions of hopelessness, the temptations, the criminal tendencies, and yes, the misogynistic attitudes of many young black men - those whose mettle has been tempered brutally, in the fires of urban American culture and black poverty. Although it uses the first person as the active voice throughout, it is nonetheless a broad portrait of the feelings of many of today's desperate youth, and not without its own internal sense of humor. But none of the tragic negativity or suppressed hostility found in this piece was evident in Mike's own behavior during his chat with Colbert, so I must assume he uses his poetry, and all of that nasty language, to describe the status quo for those men. I believe that "Run The Jewels" is for poetic, perhaps even cathartic consumption, but it is NOT intended by its creators as a prescription for life as it should be, for anyone! Lastly, I agree with you in that he implicitly blames white people (no quotation marks required) for some of the grief that black people suffer today, and quite properly so. What is less clear is whether he gives all black men an unconditional pass for all of their bad behavior simply because white people are what they are and do what they do. I don't think so, and I don't believe you should think so, either. I think Mike would agree that each of us - black or white - has a personal, independent will and the fundamental ability to choose between various actions from a range of possibilities, as they present themselves to us in our lives. What society tends to do, however unfortunately, is to determine to a large extent which options are available to which persons in the first place. Those differences comprise the systemic racism that black people (especially women) commonly face, and which is so damn unfair. His support of Bernie Sanders is a recognition that this problem, the ongoing reduction of social and economic opportunities for the middle class, extends beyond race; that the obscene concentration of wealth, and the degree of legislative corruption required to make this possible, is an overarching problem, and the sworn enemy of all those who would have a fairly-governed, egalitarian society, no matter where you live.

@easysnake2059 жыл бұрын
Jim W Hilary is like a more rightwing/corporate version of obama. Any liberal disappointed with the half hearted attempts at change, will only be more disappointed in hilary. For example: You are insane if you think Hilary honestly opposes the TPP. On the Issue of electability, Trump is going to be the GOP nominee. The winner of the DNC nomination wins the election. On the issue of not accomplishing anything, Hilary likely wont either. Because of gerrymandering the GOP will control the house until at least 2020 (when redistricting will happen). And because of GOP domination in state elections, they will likely control the redistricting process. I suspect the GOP is going to stonewall everything in congress that isnt overall beneficial to their causes. I suspect Ryan might be able to convince the crazies to accept a deal where they get the majority of what they want. My fear with hilary is that she will agree to a grand bargain with the GOP. Eg. 3 to 1 spending cuts (including to entitlements) to revenue increases. I trust bernie will not make a deal like this, but I am not so sure with hilary. I would prefer nothing to be done than cuts to entitlements personally. Obviously I am going to be voting for hilary over any of the GOP candidates, especially if it is trump, but I will be voting bernie in the primary.
@easysnake2059 жыл бұрын
Jim W lol you keep believing that its impossible. Hilary gotten taken from the left in 2008, it might just happen again. She will probably win, but I have a right to vote for who I like, and so do you :) Obama sets his goals too low imo. For example: He goes for government subsidies to help pay for private health insurance, rather than make the case for single payer health insurances that almost all other developed countries have. He has not even tried to prosecute the big banks for fraud, or to break them up. Income and wealth inequality is even worse than when he took over. "Americans don't want a Socialist President. " If you look at polling on actual policies americans are actually very pro-socialism. Eg. favoring $15 minium wage. "Far left Sanders progressives are spoiled babies not much different than their tea bagger counterparts on the right" The far left want to spend the money of the government to help improve the lives of the poor. The far right want to prevent the super rich from paying a dime in taxes. If you cant see the difference I feel sorry for you. "Any Republican Sanders might run against has a better chance of winning than against Hillary. " Hilary has very high negatives. Maybe its not her fault, and its the result of decades of propaganda, but she is strongly disliked by many people in the middle. Also she is not particularly inspiring/charismatic. Its why obama beat her.

+Jim W Assuming that we have a democracy, we, the vast majority of the people, can do whatever we want within the bounds of reason while respecting the rights of the rest. So your incessant repetition of this or that won't happen is nonsense. It won't happen because: 1) You don't want it to. 2) You're told by the media (which you coincidentally do not trust) that it won't happen. 3) Because you're surrounded by people who much like yourself repeat these narratives and reinforce your ignorance. _________________ 1) Single payer didn't stand a chance because the people did not believe that it stood a chance and therefore did not demand it. Because the people were misinformed and uneducated. Because the people have been led by wolves to vote for politicians who do not represent their interests merely because they believe that they are the lesser of two evils. (Much like Clinton) 2) I don't recall him saying that we should have let the banks fail, he said that after sparing their existence we had to break them up to prevent similar situations in the future, and then regulate them to further restrict the possibility of such callous and reckless behavior. 2a) So we should forsake justice because it costs too much money? And whether or not it would been successful returns back to the original point of the fundamental corruption inherent to this system of economics, if unregulated. I wonder if you would have made a similar remark about a thief or a robber. 3) You don't know that. You're repeating prevailing corporate media narratives which have been consistently proven false. A moments research on your part would lead you a long way. And the majority are not teenagers. 4) Hillary is a tool. Years worth of public relations and marketing have impressed onto you the image of a "common sense middle" -- whatever the hell that means, I'll assume that it's the equivalent of "common neo-liberal shill" The times are dire and we cannot afford compromise. If for no other reason than for the impeding reality of global environmental devastation. We need a candidate around whom millions can rally and demand change. The democracy which we will be exercising once he is in office will not take place in our halls of legislation, they will be on the streets. You are an intellectual side-show and your reasoning is very tiresome and mundane. I'd like to hear you say something which I would not expect 10 other people to say in the comments below.

And when he said “sitting around a camp fire” I had a feeling I knew where he was going with that and he truly believes it as do I. Bernie is our last hope

@undefined bs ... so many errors and falshoods, so little time. A. Bernie went to college, then lived in a Kibbutz in Israel where everyone worked to support the community. So "never had a job" is simply bullshit, as he worked as a carpenter when he returned to the USA before entering politics. B. what the F does "paid minimum taxes" even mean? That's simply an empty whining statement. He paid his taxes. Are you saying he should have "donated more"??? Do you "donate more" each year??? C. Actually, they were paid $17 an hour AND got healthcare. www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/elections/presidential/caucus/2019/07/19/bernie-sanders-campaign-staff-wage-15-hour-union-elizabeth-warren-campaign-wages/1781159001/
@manlymanmann75925 жыл бұрын
@undefined bs To address the "campaign staff" issue: the first ever campaign workers union (formed in the Sanders campaign with full support by Sen. Sanders)) was in talks with the sanders campaign about wages. (the thing a union is supposed to do: argue for better wages for workers) the media (both right and liberal media) spun this as though Senator Sanders was being a hypocrite, when, in fact, the opposite was the case. the sanders campaign was taking its newly formed campaign union seriously, and instead of just hiring a bunch of scabs, kept in talks with the union and eventually came to an agreement. (something not even close to being reported by right wing and liberal medias). you need to do more research, and look at policy and philosophy, and stop trying to prove someone is a hypocrite before looking at their accomplishments. do some critical thinking.

Bernie is a socialist..America will never be socialist..look at all socialist countries around the world...first...theres a smaller population than here in America..2nd..most become enveloped in nothing but corruption like the democrats party(100% corrupt). Most socialist governments end up at war, literally, war with the people. Not gonna happen here because we the people will slaughter the government and police. 😁

I mean it´s only 4 years away and now through Corona and the George Floyd movement, it feels like people might go out of this - some kinda mature. Speaking in an aspect of awareness of what surrounds them. But that also might lead to a little less ease.

The backup singers are decked out in Day of the Dead attire/face-paint....and the guitarist _kills it_ in that performance. And of course Killer Mike...kills it on the mic. ;P But seriously, that performance is incredible...and is what initially turned me on to their music. Good stuff...worth looking up!

@Florence Robinson So is Mike. Unless it is done correctly, handing out blank checks is not the answer.
@TheAutumnWind_RN4L5 жыл бұрын
@@andrewfrank7222 There was a tax loophole that an African American business attorney used for land owed to the descendants of slaves in accordance with Sherman's Field Order No. 15, with the criteria being any African American US born citizen over the age of 35. The tax credit was for $40,000 USD. My brother and his wife claimed that credit; $40k a piece, and were contacted by the the US government 2 years later with the choice to either return the $80,000, or testify against the man and his firm who prepared their taxes. Of course they testified, along with the signed testimonies of over 2,000 other people who claimed the credit. A tax credit such as this could be a viable solution for reparations, particularly when the economy looks to slow down, if inflation is the concern. There are many programs that could be introduced to congress, including first time homebuyer credits, student loan forgiveness, poverty line wage credits, and HUD construction improvements on existing housing (reverse gentrification). I just believe that it is completely unfair that every protected class that will and has obtained civil liberties will do so on the backs of the precedents written in the constitutional amendments fought for by black leaders, yet America is willing to formally apologize to, and give reparations to other protected classes but tell blacks to stop crying over something that happened over 150 years ago. Bitch, it was still ok to lynch black people in 1981, no jail time, no trial. I was 6. Congress can miss me with that nonsense. There are still places in my own state that I can not go. Jim Crow is over? They didn't get the memo.
@YourMajesty1435 жыл бұрын
@Florence Robinson - Bernie is for reparations via systemic program reforms, not handing out checks which don't provide real systemic and lasting changes for the current AND future generations of blacks. The "lotto effect" is a perfect example of why cash in hand (without educational or structural implementation of that money) is a temporary solution and can often create even more setbacks. No other candidate is for reparations by check, they also wish to use programs as "reparations"---but they use the reparations terminology in order to garner votes. Bernie isn't going to pander or mislead anyone. He's fought for black rights the longest and the hardest. However, reparation checks aren't completely off the table, Bernie is for the research into their application & usage. So far, research on reparations for Japanese internment victims shows they ended up with a net loss. Handing out checks has never been a viable solution, but at least Bernie is staying open-minded.
