I highly recommend looking into Miro. It's a free online whiteboard, very easy to use, lots of features. For example, you can have different coloured sticky notes so perhaps alters could have their own colour if helpful? You can easily drag things around, there's templates, and it's massive so you won't run out of room. I don't have DID, I actually use it for work but as Kya was talking, it came to mind as a potentially useful and easy tool for those with DID who would like an online space to visually map out and internally communicate

Unfortunately that is one of the most frustrating aspects of DID. The amnesiac divisions between alters often also prevents communication or even being aware that the other alter exists. For those who are reading this, dissociation happens which many conditions and there is no one way to dissociate. Dissociative disorders are not the only disorders that cause dissociation. ADHD, autism, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, headaches/migraines, chronic pain, PTSD, and trauma can lead to a person dissociating. The cause can be physical and/or neurological and/or mental. Dissociation can effect sensory input. If you dissociate and have not been diagnosed with any condition, your experiences are valid. If your healthcare provider won’t listen to you, find one who will. Healthcare providers are supposed to help people be healthy in all aspects of there life. You can be healthy and have dissociative episodes.

@yukiandkanamekuran2 жыл бұрын
Hey, that is true but consistent dissociation is a big problem! For DID/OSDD you have to have been formed in childhood, with prolonged trauma (C-PTSD) and a detachment from the primary caregiver. I have both ADHD and OSDD, so before I knew my system, I experienced dissociation/zoning out nearly everyday, conflicted mind and PTSD symptoms. So, everyone experiences dissociation. But 1. Dissociation via understimulation is what ppl with ADHD experience 2. DPDR, constant dissociation and switching (emotional or dissociative amnesia) is what systems experience 3. You can experience DPDR without being a system, like with BPD or DPDR itself.
@yukiandkanamekuran2 жыл бұрын
Also trauma disorders who experience dissociation are: All dissociative disorders (DID, OSDD, UDD, DPDR, etc), BPD, C-PTSD and PTSD. (Idk if just C-PTSD and PTSD experience it, but traumatic shock is a thing in those disorders) There's definitely more, probably, but,,, trauma induced dissociation in general is like,,, linked to specific disorders. It's not really trauma by itself. Also, headaches/migraines thing might be linked with switching headaches bc that's what they feel like.

DissociaDID, my kid sister and I are so incredibly thankful for all the videos your System makes! See, my sister has a really good friend who has DID, and your videos (along with the System she's friends with. I think she's managed to make friends with the entire system at this point in time, and she considers each of them to be an individual, different friend) have helped so much with her understanding of her friends. This video specifically actually helped her and the System come up with an idea for a problem she was having. One of the littles likes to talk to her a lot, but they're a very young little and needs supervision, so when my sister saw this video and thought of the idea of having a buddy, she suggested to the System that the primary protector supervise by co-hosting or being right over the little's shoulder whenever the little is fronting, and it has had such a positive effect! So even though it's not the exact "buddy system" you're talking about here, the idea of buddies turns out to be great for other purposes aside from passing messages along, as well. Keep up the great work! You're helping so many people, both affected and not affected by DID alike!

Geez, the struggle was real in this video, the dissociation was so strong, that "wow" right at the beginning, I said the same at the exact same time! Because as soon as the video started after Seraphina I was able to tell you were really dissociated, I don't know if anyone else notices it, maybe because I've been watching for so long, but your eyes change when you are in this state, it's almost as if they were a bit clouded, unfocused... It was the same with Chloe and Nin. But that was a really nice and interesting video, I have no idea how you guys were able to record like that, a lot of pauses for grounding I'm guessing, but very interesting subject.

I've been traumatised again and I feel like I've lost contact with everyone from the system that I was close with. Idk if a split happened. I just woke up here. I'm unable to recognize who is close, with whom I'm about to switch etc. Hours pass and I can see that someone attended the online classes, but idk what happened. I'm glad I have some old notes, but it feels like I don't remember anyone. I used to recognize alters either by emotions or the way the posture of the body was changing or the pattern of thinking. I could easily grasp the situation and some thoughts and ideas, so I can continue a conversation, before everything went in the back of the mind. Now when I'm pushed forward, I can feel the emotions, thoughts, but when the switch is completed, I forget everything. I don't identity by the same name. Idk how to act so it doesn't seem weird to people around. Back to the start I guess...

Actually it's perfect timing, considering my husband doesn't know his system yet, and his kind of in denial, so I'll be careful with the information and I'll ask him if he wants to know more, etc. Anyway I'm really happy to see you again, I'm excited that you are starting to upload content again. Just do whatever you feel comfortable uploading. The video about types of dissociation would be very helpful for us, I hope you can do it. And if it's not much to ask, an update of the system would be awesome!!, Just if you can do it. Greetings from Chile ❤️

I just wanted to say thank you! This has been so helpful! Ive been struggling for a long time. I recently realized I have DID, after mapping and figuring out who knows who... I realized there is no host! My wife left me 7 years ago and my host bailed on us! As life crumbles the next host jumped ship, rinse and repeat 5 times! I didn't understand how to communicate that I remember going fishing, I went fishing a lot! And I don't like fishing!!! I rember there was a time I hugged people, but I don't know what it feels like! I'm just the alter that was built for pain!!! The rest of us are all for negative feelings, except for one is a child. That explains why some days my motor skills are that of a toddler! I'm the only one who has communication with the rest. I guess it's my job to figure this out! We are ill equipped, but have the know how to fix this. I'm getting those dummies that left us here because I'm not starting over!

Super dissociated & still the same worth & awesomeness then when not. With every video you teach me more and more how I can be a better friend to my friend with DID. Their system is so awesome & it is thanks to you that I can be a good friend to them. Thank you Kya & the DissociaDID system!

So excited to see a new video! Does Seraphina know who is fronting/can tell the difference between alters?
@allisonn60562 жыл бұрын
I know I'm not them, but I'm betting that she does! Our dogs act out for one of the male alters in the system every single time he comes out. With me, they're perfectly calm. They don't do it for any other alter in our system. Only him. We also have a parakeet and he looks at us like he's curious or something by paying more attention to us if we dissociate near him according to friends. If it's someone he's unfamiliar with, he acts all standoffish

I appreciate how candid you are, Kya! No need to apologize for your dissociation, I am happy to watch more of your videos now that you seem to be in a better place!

My ADHD butt relates so much about the distraction and dissociation throughout the whole video. I would also sometimes forget what I'm talking about midsentence, so you didn't need to apologize for it. AND LOVE THE MAKEUP! It fits Kya very much. Also, for some reason you look like your kitten. Or maybe she looks like you? Anyway, I'm not sure if Maya had been introduced yet, do you think she'd like to do a Meet the Alter?

We recently instituted a buddy system for ourselves, even though we have fairly good internal communication, and it's been really helpful for making sure everyone feels heard, because someone's buddy is supposed to be something of a representative, who can speak for us when we're voting on something or having a meeting and we're not able to participate for whatever reason (for example, when the front can't be left unattended for an indefinite period). We're able to meet up and make collaborative decisions in a much more efficient way, and we don't have to worry about how to make sure dormant members of the system are considered in major decisions. Of course, this does require that we're able to choose our buddy and trust them completely, which might not work in systems with worse communication.

This is the perfect video to watch before going to bed ❤️ love that you guys are still making videos. 😊 Also the body of yours looks kinda like a woodland elf with the hair and makeup, because your ears look quite pointy if that makes sense 😂 looks so beautiful. You guys seem quite comfortable and confident 😊 also I love your podcast

You’ve mentioned having relationships and living with DID. I don’t remember if you’ve made a video about having pets and DID. I would think some of the same things can apply, but I’m sure there’s probably plenty of differences. I was just curious what your system thinks about Seraphina, who is just so beautiful. I’m a big fan of cats and Siamese/Ragdoll family is just great

Glad you made this and glad to see you making content. I have followed you for a very long time before anyone was talking about or showing DID on KZbin. There is a lot of fake content, and it’s sad to see inaccurate depictions. It’s so misunderstood and I think your channel is one of the lone beams of hope in getting real understanding and awareness. 😍 love you, support you always. I had DID more as a child and what’s left now is sort of like a maternal figure that only comes when I’m really really distressed and sick and need help. Almost like hearing my mothers internal voice… in myself? It’s hard to explain but it’s comforting and sometimes makes me a little sad because it barely happens anymore and It can be very lonely in the quiet times once you’ve sort of comet together and healed. I had a very severely traumatic childhood. I remember clearly one of my first memories was an alter who was much much older and protecting being in control and thinking how annoying it was to be talked to like a child by someone who had no idea that they weren’t speaking to me. I couldn’t explain it and I never tried to tell anyone. I just thought everyone had many people inside of them and when you died you woke up inside someone else with different people. When I was very very young. I didn’t understand it was DID until diagnosis, and then when I found mr robot on tv I began to feel less alone and then your channel. Nobody knew what it meant and would think it was the same as schizophrenia which Trisha so incorrectly misinformed people even more confusing the two as somehow the same thing when they aren’t. I appreciate your content and hope you make it even when you’ve healed and you feel like you’ve come together. It’s a weird thing it’s like you integrated all of your into a whole eventually but it gets quieter and quieter with pieces left behind. Like.. things they liked you will find a craving for and remember why. Not everyone is the same but for me… anyway. Or you will find you like some complete different style outfit to what you yourself like and be very attracted to it and then realise it isn’t really you it’s that part of you that was an alter, it’s not like they are gone it’s like you became this whole piece and you feel them but you don’t experience it the same? Sometimes it makes me sad. Sometimes I wish I hadn’t healed because it was less scary to not face things alone or to be able to be numb to things and not experience them if I wasn’t capable. It’s not easy to explain. 🥰😍 this channel will forever be one of my most comforting channels.

Given how much work goes into these videos, it would have been really easy to edit out all the dissociating moments and I really appreciate that they chose not to do that. It shows a lot more of the realities of trying to work while having DID, plus it also adds to the culture of the channel, making it feel more casual in a way that makes the information easier to absorb

heyyy question from me as an alter in a system- do you (or any other systems reading this) ever have a long patch where only one alter is fronting for days or weeks and everyone else is silent?? those can be kind of frightening for our system and we don’t know how to deal with it yet. thanks!!! 🖤💞✨
@skeetsmcgrew32822 жыл бұрын
I remember Chloe saying sometimes she got tired of fronting for long stretches. It made her feel as though she was responsible for everything, like "OMG will somebody please take a turn taking care of this dang meatbag for awhile" lol. I cant say I remember her specifically saying it was scary for her but Im sure its completely different for everyone
@lee-hv1el2 жыл бұрын
@@skeetsmcgrew3282 yeah i totally relate to that HAHAH- the only reason it can be kind of scary is because you’re so used to having that support, hearing other opinions, or hearing advice, that when it goes silent it feels like that support is kinda gone :(
@yippeeflowers2 жыл бұрын
yes! i was the only one fronting through a silent period recently, for just over a year. turns out there was a communication jam caused by pregnancy and birth trauma (it started just after i got pregnant and lasted until just last month) as well as various uncontrolled splits and fusions. so glad we're finally back to slowly unpacking it though, and that more alters are getting to meet our baby! -no name yet, previously nen (host of the wildflower system)
@allisonn60562 жыл бұрын
Yes for sure! It happens sometimes and is scary for us too. I can't get away from the things out here to go in for a break, and not hearing them just makes me feel lonely, or like something bad happened to them

I have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue and I totally get what you are talking about when you say a metal door is coming down. When a flare hits, i have such terrible brain fog that I feel someone has put reality in a blender and just made a smoothie out of it. Thank you for making this video anyway. Also, I am so glad for your re uploaded videos, you have helped me so much in dealing with my mental health. I absolutely love Kya.

There are different types of systems in systems, or subsystems. U can either have an alter have alters that form a subsystem, or u can have a group of alters with better communication to one another than the rest of the system
@jamescurfman32842 жыл бұрын
That is what this whole channel is about. You could scroll to the bottom and start from the beginning. That's a lot of videos. Some are longer than others. Please remember that every system will be different from every other system so anything said is from very specific points of view and could be completely different when dealing with other channels.
