Pay no mind to others. You are allowed to exist in every space you're in. Just because other people don't think it's "normal" doesn't mean tics aren't a normal part of your life. Own it, and don't let anyone make you feel bad. Even if they bully you or make fun of you, laugh along and don't let it get to you. You really can't change it and you should never be ashamed. My son has Tourettes since 6 yrs old. School was very hard for him, more in Primary school because he distracted everyone so much and Tourettes was not as known and understood (1980's). He was angry at me for the longest because he didn't want it and I couldn't make it go away. And his case was mild, no cursing and flipping ppl off, just noises, body jerks, dragging his toes when he walked, and clearing his throat all the time, he also had behavioral outbursts and a severe learning comprehension disability. We went to many doctors who pumped him full of meds which he hated and none worked. The meds can heavily sedate and cause weight gain. To this year he refused to take meds because of it. He is 39 now and his health is suffering. Don't let your condition control your life. Live the happiest life you can and tell your friends you mean no harm, that the condition is uncontrollable. You most definitely have the vocal and muscular tics of Tourettes. You have an excellent friendship, luv your relationship. Stay sweet, the way you are. I do not know about FND? I am going to subscribe to follow your story and learn more. I shall pray for your acceptance by others and your continued good health. Gramma MJ
