I'm always talking to myself which is why I'm here as there are obviously millions of people who do it on a daily basis, and so I thought it would be interesting to see what other people make of it. I have heard my sister have full scale conversations with herself as well as my Mother. Perhaps it's a hereditary thing? It's like you role play out dialogue you wished you had said, scenarios that may happen and sometimes scenarios that you foresee happening. Some of it is reality and some of it is fantasy. I quite enjoy it, but if someone were to be a fly on the wall and be completely unfamiliar with it, they might think I'm a teeny tiny bit cuckoo. I see no harm in it. It feels quite salubrious.

I've talked to myself for as long as I can remember. I use it as a thinking tool and an entertainment device. As it turns out, no one can make me laugh like I can, and I always get the punch line too! Back when there was such a device as an Answering machine, I had this recorded, "There are two kinds of people who get my Answering machine; the people who call when I'm not here, and the people I do not wish to speak to. To find out which you are...leave a message." -- wow! was my ex-wife pissed!

I just talk to myself when my thinking process gets so abstract and complicated that I have to hear it audible to untangle it. I do it alone anyway because I know talking to yourself is frowned upon. When I get into such deep thoughts and I'm surrounded by people I just force myself to stop thinking about this complicated thing and start thinking about other things or just start daydream until somebody startles me by talking to me or something like that. Doesn't mean I'm mad just because I don't do everything everybody else does because the "Overton Window says this is acceptable and this is not" like a robot or clone. (>^o^)>

Although I'm making videos to explain earthlings to my fellow aliens, I'm far from understanding how the human mind works. Thus my question: Your videos show different "selves" - do you alternate between them like Arcturian mindchangelings? Or are they all present at the same time in your head, endlessly discussing and quarreling, like the brains of a Centaurian autotelepath? Your last video seems to suggest the last variant. Is this what's going on in your head when you earthlings think?

lmfao! that was great! 👌😂 that's pretty much my brain on a daily basis. always interrupting me when I'm talking or other people are talking to me. I just consider that thoughts. see. what's weird about me is... I can tell the difference between thinking to myself and talking to myself. the best way I can describe it is... my brain is VERY visual.. I'll know it's just a thought when my mind is black like a giant dark echoing room and I'll hear my thoughts just like everyone else. NOW...for a long time, I couldn't tell the difference...and most everyone I asked said no and looked at me like I was an alien👽😂...but I asked about 15 people, "when you're talking to yourself in your mind, do you see your conscience? in example, do you just hear your thoughts or do you see yourself talking as you think? cause sometimes I just hear my thoughts and sometimes I see myself in the back right corner of my mind chillin in a chair and I have discussions with myself" 😂😂😂😂😂 the looks on their faces was priceless! but ok... picture it like this... you're in one of those interrogation rooms with the 2 way mirrors... it's kinda dark and you're under one of those shitty off white flickering lights that buzz...and every time they talk to you is from behind the 2 way glass...so you hear them but you can't see them. but In my case... I'm sitting in the corner of my mind in a wooden chair in vast pitch black nothingness and I'm lit up by a faint light.. I'll say something and then my mind replies from the "void", per say. once in a while I'll catch myself replying out loud. but sometimes it's pretty scary because sometimes it's not me in the chair. during psychosis, this shadowy figure of a man is sitting there talking shit to me saying I'm a piece of shit and what not. I guess I could say it's my ego arguing with my conscience maybe?

"When you wish to reflect upon or consider a matter, you consult something within you. You say, shall I do it, or shall I not do it? Is it better to make this journey or abandon it? Whom do you consult? Who is within you deciding this question? Surely there is a distinct power, an intelligent ego. Were it not distinct from your ego, you would not be consulting it. It is greater than the faculty of thought. It is your spirit which teaches you, which advises and decides upon matters." - Abdu’l-Baha, Baha'i Faith

It feels so normal, i can sit in my room all day and just talk to myself like its absolutely normal. The weird thing is, is that i cant stop myself. Its like words just come out on their own and the more i try to control it i get angry and my brain starts having violent and disgusting thoughts. I try to make the thoughts go away and they just wont, its like my brain hates me. I feel like im trapped in two bodies or something and its just not normal.

Objection! Okay, you are right that the world does not really "work in a yes/no way". But you can categorize anything in "two kinds". You do not have to include degrees in such categories. Of course, this is not very accurate but noone said it would be. Take clothing for example. It can be clean and it can be dirty. If it is clean, it is clean. Not a single stain. But dirty... that can go from one small stain to being totally covered. Any clothing still fits "dirty - not dirty".

Not to be excessively pedantic... But talking to yourself can be a "stylistic device." It's called "Apostrophe" ( ' ) if you are talking to someone who isn't there ("Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore art thou Romeo" - Juliet thought she was making an apostrophe, not knowing he was there). It's called a soliloquy if you're just expressing thoughts out loud, and truly "talking to yourself," like Hamlet's famous "To be or not to be" speech, which was not intended for anyone. So you're perfectly normal.:^D

Interesting bit of trivia: The two halves of the brain don't communicate with each other in a widespread way. The principle place in the brain that links the two sides is the corpus callosum, which is also the central processor where human consciousness (in theory) comes into being. Our consciousness comes from the two halves communicating with each other. We actually *think* in the form of a conversation. So, really, everyone talks to themselves. (...there are those who are honest about it, and then there's Silly You. ;-p ) Besides, if the only people in the house are family members or people you're not interested in, how else are you going to carry on a conversation while in the shower?

[Psychoanalyst folding his hands and looking at you with concern]: "And have you found that this habit of...talking to yourself...has gotten worse...excuse me...increased in frequency over time? And do you talk to yourself when you're not 'by yourself' too? This latter sign is a VERY serious indicator, symptomatic of increasing verbosity and a semantic disconnect from reality..."

It is said: Those who talk to themselves are coming into money. "Are NOT!" "Am SO!" "You're a loony" "Nudge, Nudge, say no more!" You really ARE quite remarkable. Had you ever considered a career in television?

do you mean you talk to yourself or think aloud? cause i remove the barrier between my thoughts and my mouth all the time, but i don't have conversations with myself. but for some reason people still consider thinking aloud to be talking to oneself.

I have a followup question, if I may, to your preemptive answer. Why? Did you give your hair to a wig maker for cancer patients or was shaving your head just you being rebellious at 15?

It seems to me that the "binary view of life" is actually the way your human brains work. You earthlings have a binary brain - neurons are either firing or silent. In consequence, your thinking is binary, as are your languages: Whenever you use a word, be it a noun like "teacher", an adjective like "red" or a verb like "to walk", you are basically implying that there are two kinds of people / objects / activities etc. in the world: Those said word applies to, and those it doesn't.

After watching this video I asked myself, do I talk to myself? I replied, no, you don't, you'd never do. Then I said "that's good, I wasn't sure, I mean, who wants to be mad?" That was when I said "Hey, what are you two talking about?" Good to know, I'm not mad.

I can't eat a pringle vertically inserted in my mouth, but I can make a duck-mouth-face-thing with them... you know what I mean... :) There are only two kinds of people in the world those who are me, and those who aren't! P.S. I like that you hold up the 'German' two fingers i.e. finger and thumb >.
