I'll work on more. The ad rev certainly incentivizes it more, but just not as easy to produce.

Toledo OH---Father in law was back of truck for years, then a driver, and husband followed in his footsteps. It was a great job with great benefits for ex-Marines who wanted to keep fit and make good money. Our kids had all medical, dental, and vision paid thru Teamsters Local 20. Those days are long gone and the city farmed it out to Republic right after my husband retired due to joint issues from 35 years of back-breaking work. FIL used to scrap copper and all kinds of things, paid for many Christmases for his 9 kids. He actually based his decision on whether to take the driver job or not (didn't need CDL back then, just a good driving record) because of all the benefits of humping cans. He went with the higher pay because MIL was working by that time and she wanted him in a safer place.

hierarchy of controls confirms everything you're discussing. work smarter not harder, keep dudes from riding the back of the truck!

Can we hear what happened to the cardboard recycling operation soon please?

In the podcast episode with Vanessa from Keep Columbus Beautiful, I think we discussed it some. Short story: The dumpsters would get contaminated with trash and people would throw material on the ground causing a dispute about site cleanup between site and the service provider. For instance, if Green Fiber had a dumpster at a bank for public drop off, Green Fiber maybe asked to cleanup everything dumped on the ground. So, between site cleanup and contaminated loads, the margin wasn't there to provide the dumpsters for free.

@acesanitationserviceinc that's a shame. Thanks for replying!

I’ve always wondered this even as a kid Does the trash get searched where ever it goes and if not, how do they know that there’s something illegal or harmful in the trash such as a bunch of drugs, a murder weapon or even a deceased body

The garbage industry here where I am every winter the city lay off about 100s of workers and hire in the spring
@acesanitationserviceincАй бұрын
Haven't seen that before... I imagine they rehire most of the staff laid off since.

Hey, are you allowed to take stuff that you might find?
