My father joined Ceylon Government Railways in 1916 at age 16+ with English education at Ananda College Colombo As a Clerk of works His first appointment at Bandarawela Badulla railway construction commenced from Bandarawela He served till Railway track completed at Badulla in Feb 1924 I am in possession of works certificates issued to him by British Railway Engineers during this period time and again even he worked at Demodara Railway site Finally he retired as an Assistant Accountant of Ceylon Government Railways with the exams he passed I am so grateful to him for taking us which coverd all Railway Lines in Sri Lanka and learnt my practical skills of geography and history of Sri Lanka which benefited my Higher education in universities I have all the original certificates still in good condition type written and hand written by British Railway Engineers. Now over 120 years old
