Was fortunate to make the journey 3 years ago. An iconic bucket list adventure! Stunning

Thanks for the trip in the sunshine. I’ve done the whole drive twice - both times in the rain!

Thanks Michael--I haven't had that experience. Those windy roads must have been a challenge!

@ Not so much windy as slick.

always a great drive even with a road closure. Pretty sad with how quiet those towns are. Great video as always.

Thanks Jan! Most of Big Sur still incredible--just a little harder to get to!

Great episode highlighting Highway 1. Drove up to Cambria today to spend a few nights and visit with the elephant seals.

A great spot on the south part of highway 1 is Redwood Gulch. There is no trail. You hike directly in the steep canyon bottom.. Its like being in land-of-the-giants, The canyon is lined with giant boulders and majestic Redwoods. You're scrambling over huge boulders, doing log walks on giant fallen redwoods to cross pools of water and crawling under other fallen Redwoods. Its about 20 miles north of San Simeon. There are no signs, but a large pull out. Its so unique that I once took 9 friends on a day trip to hike it.

Is there any estimate as to when the road might be open the entire length?

Drones are NOT allowed in Big Sur so putting a disclaimer is helpful to stop folks from getting fined.
