Mark McDonald, the barrister leading Lucy Letby’s legal team, has said there is “a juggernaut of evidence that demolishes the evidence that was put before”.
It comes after a panel of international medical experts have concluded bad medical care and natural causes led to the deaths of the babies said to be harmed by Letby.
On Tuesday, the team of 14 neonatologists and paediatric specialists presented its “impartial evidence-based report” and said: “We did not find any murders.”
Letby, 35, from Hereford, is serving 15 whole-life orders after she was convicted at Manchester Crown Court of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others, with two attempts on one of her victims, between June 2015 and June 2016.
Joining Talk’s Mike Graham, Mr McDonald says: "The experts that were called by the prosecution were nowhere near as credible as the experts that have come forward from across the world."
