Lucy Letby: “This Evidence Says She Did Nothing Wrong” | Medical Experts ‘Did Not Find Any Murders’

Mark McDonald, the barrister leading Lucy Letby’s legal team, has said there is “a juggernaut of evidence that demolishes the evidence that was put before”.
It comes after a panel of international medical experts have concluded bad medical care and natural causes led to the deaths of the babies said to be harmed by Letby.
On Tuesday, the team of 14 neonatologists and paediatric specialists presented its “impartial evidence-based report” and said: “We did not find any murders.”
Letby, 35, from Hereford, is serving 15 whole-life orders after she was convicted at Manchester Crown Court of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others, with two attempts on one of her victims, between June 2015 and June 2016.
Joining Talk’s Mike Graham, Mr McDonald says: "The experts that were called by the prosecution were nowhere near as credible as the experts that have come forward from across the world."

All of her former colleagues should be sent to prison. They knowingly let her go to jail to cover their own failings. Lucy's experience in prison would've been, and I'm sure remains even more horrific than usual, given the nature of her alleged crimes. No amount of compensation can cover what they've taken from her. She should leave the country first chance she gets. This is a national disgrace and we should all feel ashamed. God bless MP David Davis, the panel of experts for helping Lucy at their own expense and her barrister. They have restored my faith in humanity and shown there is still hope for this Country. This should be the final nail in the coffin of the corrupt and criminally inefficient NHS.

I listened to Mark McDonald on this channel straight after the trial. My knee jerk reaction was, how could he be so insensitive and say she is innocent . But it immediately made me want to check out what the evidence of her guilt was. I found nothing after a week of searching so went back to his interview and left my first comment ever. I agreed with him. Mine was a lone voice among hundreds of ‘burn the witch’ comments. It was so slow to begin, but the momentum has gathered so much speed now. What a turn around!

The standard of proof on her conviction was ‘beyond reasonable doubt’. Establishing reasonable doubt may be enough to show the convictions unsafe but she may walk, even if it is more likely than not ( a lesser standard of proof) that she did commit murder. I do not foresee LL being proven innocent on these disclosures. I see that it is better to allow a guilty person improperly convicted to walk away than it is to incarcerate an innocent one.

The nhs is a closed shop which hugely protects itself. If you’ve ever sued them like I have, you’ll know how bad they all are in protecting one another. It’s the same as any other public body. We see cover ups and doctors protecting one another with impunity time and time again. It has to stop and we need to be the client, not the state - we need an insurance based system with subsidies for those who can’t pay and keeping some aspects in the public sphere - eg ambulances. Can you guys rebut all previous evidence and claims? By October 2024, media mentioned whenever Lucy was around, death rate of babies multiplied by 30 (The Guardian, The Telegraph, etc). Also I remember an account. When a doctor asked for more nurses to work in weekend, he was told Lucy was available. The doc refused by arguing every time she's around babies di3.

Nurses who work on seriously neonats units, or in end of life wards (just examples) are likely to see a far greater number of deaths than a nurse on other wards. She was on shift for all the deaths of the babies and numerous staff had raised concerns about her. Everyone knows that the defence team failed miserably in supporting Lucy at the trial. It was a travesty of professional misconduct in itself, but I also understand it is difficult for Mark McDonald to be seen criticising his peers. That would undermine the legal establishment somewhat and divert attention away from the subject at hand. After the final outcome is known at some point in the future maybe judgement could be reserved at the standard of the original defence team but for now it would do nothing to further Lucy's case. Mark McDonald should be complimented at his efforts to date as I think the confidence in his abilities to take this forward is growing.

@@dianecameron137 Of course that situation is not OK, but the question is why did the situation occur? Was it murder/ attempted murder? Or was it simply an accident - an accident with a plethora of possible contributing causes - I'll give a few possibilities: - The premature babies are tiny, she may have just not seen that the tube had become dislodged. - She may have knocked the tube out accidentally whilst doing some other procedure - this example wouldn't be the first of its kind, nor the last. - Overworked staff, unable to properly focus. - Or she trained for many years, to do a badly paid, underappreciated job, which she did for many years before these incidents happened, just to become a murderer. Anyway, it's not up to any of us on here to make a judgement. As it stands, she is guilty... I have read a load of articles as to why this might be a miscarriage of justice, so at the moment, from the information available to me, my instinct is telling me she is innocent. Let's see what the courts say. I find it very hard to believe that so many actual experts would put their reputations on the line for this woman if they had any doubts about her innocence. The original "expert" witness, was not really an "expert" in the same way as these new experts coming forward. He is a long retired pediatrician, who has been working as an "expert" medical witness in medical trials for many years, and has boasted before the trial that "I have never lost a trial". That statement alone should send alarm bells ringing - because when it is the truth that is sought, the amount of trials he has won is irrelevant. He just sounds a little egotistical to me - not helpful.

6:30 Why is it not of interest to the justice system that Lucy didn't have medical experts to defend her? It's key to the whole case. My hunch is that her defence lawyer didn't really believe she was innocent in the first place , or got caught up in his own ego? How the hell did he think he was going to have a chance of winning without lining up some counter experts in front of the jury? Very strange. Did he phone anyone up? Did experts refuse to testify? If so , why? Was the defence part of the process that set Lucy up for prison? Did Lucy sabotage her own case because she felt prison was safer than the outside , or because she was psychologically unstable and depressed? So many questions that must be answered , and if they are not , how is the public supposed to have faith in the justice system? Is this another Post Office scandal?
