Even in Ukraine in I think it was 2014, fired ALL the police, from top to bottom and recruited new police. Completed by end of 2015. Existing police were out and not allowed to apply. They realised that policing in that country was not working. Unfortunately then there was a US backed coup. But you can see it is possible to do and is necessary to get back to the origins of what police is about. Not political agents which is what we have now, very similar to 1936 Germany.

Came home one evening last year and someone had dragged my project Toyota celica off my driveway and took it away, it had no gearbox, reporting to the police the woman on the phone said 'aww thats a shame, was it on a SORN ?' When I confirmed it was she said 'yes they are doing that a lot, heres a crime number ! ' asked who they are and she replied Romanians ! That aparently was the end of it. Value of car £4000

Stop fast tracking within the police immediately. That is the root cause in my opinion. Let officers work their way through the ranks based on ability, not a contract made at the begining of their service. Unfortunately only ex police officers will be aware of this problem.

We do need a better police force, but to be fair the judicial system needs replacing with unbiased , liberal judges, I’ve had 2 cars nicked in 10 years , both returned , both occasions the culprits who nicked the motors / driving them were let off lack of evidence.

The police force needs to stop taking only university graduates - who are obviously ideologically challenged. Ex forces need to be recruited. No political opinions taught at the college of policing. No ideologies taught at the college of policing. Reopening of the police stations that have been closed down - as the cells are needed! Police back on the beat in considerable numbers. Community police presence on the streets. No favouritism as to who is and who is not dealt with properly. Thought police to stop reading peoples’ comments, and get out on the streets doing a proper real crime prevention job.

Your soloution of buying more ueseless police officers and pcso is going to increase the lack of comon sense im afraid. The people being recruited are as thick as they come in most cases and at best should be picking eggs from a chicken farm. Most cases in court rooms reguarding the police are dropped because the police havent actully done what they should of done and end up being discontinued. and in alot more cases now the police (our tax money) has to pay out the so called criminal or inocent due to this. Your soloution would make this worse. A soultion what may help is by recruiting police officers who actully have what you call comon sense to start with. (comon sense test) Teaching comon sense these days does not work as we see across many areas.
