Many people running this farrago will have well insulated passive sealed homes requiring little energy input with solar energy backed up by batteries, counter current ventilation ensuring fresh air with no heat loss, underfloor heating avoiding the draughts from radiators. All done at massive cost but that is no problem for those at the top running the country as money can buy anything. Look at Grand Designs to look at the complexity of these homes and the budget required but what can be done given the funds. Never seen a radiator installed in in a Grand Design house in any of the episodes I have seen. Entirely different world to thou or I. I am sure they will be hiding nice and comfy when the lights and heating go off for the rest of us. Also with a surreptitious Diesel generator firing up in a noise proofed room I could well imagine.

You have got to form local commandos. So it's neighborhood protection groups with very trusted neighbors. So that when someone arrives, they don't just come and arrest people. The neighborhood says a firm no to political persecution by the state. Alexander Solzenitzen explained that when the E German secret police arrived at someones house to take "dissidents" away in the middle of the night, then the neighborhood would deal with that situation accordingly. I will say no more. @paulgilson2347

Burnham's call for a public inquiry, echoed later by a couple of labour MPs are a "crack in the dam" of government opposition to it. Much will depend upon how many more Labour MPs widen the crack and much will depend here on how many of them, to mix my metaphors, have "skeletons in their cupboards" from earlier careers. Many of them will have been Labour councillors and/or officials in areas where, and at the time when, many of these horrors took place.
