Shaming culture creates spaces where diatribes and tirades are the norm. We are a society of talkers, and shouters, and shame-ers, but not of listeners. We have confused tolerance with acceptance. So glad my girls aren't at school anymore. But my youngest is at uni studying musical theatre and keeps getting asked what her pronoun is. A succession of comedians and commentators appeared n the BBC poking fun at them and making them out to be extremist loons worthy only of contempt.
