"Is It Disrespectful To Use Factual Grammar?" Julia Hartley-Brewer CLASHES With Non-Binary Presenter

TalkTV's Julia Hartley-Brewer clashes with journalist and presenter Shivani Dave over the use of different pronouns.
It comes after a review said children have been let down by a lack of research and "remarkably weak" evidence on medical interventions in gender care.
The Cass Review, published on Wednesday by paediatrician Dr Hilary Cass, calls for gender services for young people to match the standards of other NHS care.
She says the "toxicity" of the debate around gender meant professionals were "afraid" to openly discuss their views.
NHS England says it has already made significant progress in making changes.
The Cass Review, which looked at gender identity services for under-18s, was commissioned by NHS England in 2020 after a sharp rise in the number of patients referred to the NHS who were questioning their gender.

You can’t “affirm” an anorexic because affirming their belief would be harmful to the individual. If you affirm that they are “fat” when they are in reality extremely poorly nourished and need to eat and drink, then they will continue to do their same behaviours. Affirming an anorexic is directly harmful. However, being considerate and using pronouns to the best of your ability, just like trying to use someone’s preferred nickname instead of their whole legal name, is not harmful to the individual in any way. trans means you don't identify as the gender you were assigned as birth. nonbinary means any gender identity outside of the binary identities of man or woman. trans is an umbrella term which includes nonbinary.

When Shivani referred to themself as "special" they were mocking the fact that Julia (somewhat disrespectfully) used the same term to describe nonbinary people previously. And to counter your other point, 'they' as a singular pronoun grammatically correct and has been used since 1375 to describe an individual person of unknown gender. What is dreadfully sad isn't the 30 somethings who know that they are getting a counterfeit body that resembles the gender they identify with; it's the teenagers who are led to believe that they will actually have the body of the gender they identify with. It was seriously parodied in Life of Brian where they said that they could fight for the rights to have babies even if Loretta couldn't actually have babies. What's the point of fighting for the right when biology rules it out completely. Mate the standards of education here have plummeted. Most kids cannot speak grammatically correct English, their vocabulary is limited and their knowledge even of the subjects they are supposed to be studying at University is for most extremely limited. Lecturers having to reach remedial calculus for Mathematics students etc,etc. It's appalling.

She has to help with her siblings, plus she has 2 jobs and volunteers at a youth club where she comes from. She won't take any crap. She told me once when she was in class. A student asked for her pronoun, and she said my name is Milli, and the student said that they identified as a frog. She replied I am not going to say that!! But in Bradford, style said don't go to France. I told my son that he has a smart and strong woman. These people are nothing compared to what she has had to put with in others. She has had more emotional trauma than all of them put together. I connect with her because I am from the same place. Proper trauma is not someone getting your pronouns wrong.
