Nigella, who studied Italian at Oxford, indulges her personal passion for Italy, where she lived, worked and cooked when she was in her 20s, before she was a busy TV star, wife and mother. Nigellissima inspires readers to bring the spirit of Italy into the kitchen--without needing to source inaccessible ingredients or totally restock the pantry--with her quick, easy recipes and simple techniques that elevate everyday eating into no-fuss feasts.
Nigellissima shows readers how a weeknight dish can be a faithful interpretation of traditional Italian fare without involving numerous steps or ingredients. For example, a lemon, some oil, crushed red pepper flakes and dried oregano can add fire and life to a number of dishes. Or if a recipe calls for the juice of a lemon, use the zest, too, as that's where all its force and fragrance lies. Here are recipes like Italian Roast Chicken with Peppers and Olives; Shortcut Sausage Meatballs; Spaghetti with Tuna, Lemon and Arugula; and Nutella Cheesecake--all that can be rustled up pronto!

I love listening to Nigella monologue aimlessly. Having been familiar with her books for a while, I know she's visited most of these themes before, but her stream-of-consciousness delivery always seems novel and profound. I wish she wouldn't have stopped herself on the topic of the dialogue of food, because I know she has some heady and stimulating opinions in that regard. I hope that as she matures, she'll get a bit more theoretical and indulgent in her writing; she'd make a great food scholar.

It is wonderful to see how passionate she is about what she does. I wonder though how can one study italian, love italian food and cooking, teach and write about Italy, and yet not one single time pronounce the word Mediterranean?...and I swear I stuck to the very last second hoping to hear the word finally uttered.....But it is true she brings her own personal (direct or indirect) approche, which is nice and generous.

She has the most beautiful eyes. Not just here eyes, but she is a great speaker and I love her speech! She is so right about the olive oil! I argue with friends all the time and tell them that extra virgin olive oil has a low smoking point! The regular olive oil, along with a neutral oil like avocado or corn oil have higher smoking points and are better for cooking.

"I do not think however Nigella could make 'instant meals' when you have thirty quid to feed yourself and a family for a week!!!!!!!!!!!!" because she's claimed that she could?? Whilst the Lawson/ Salmon families are well connected they're hardly "extremely posh"! Nigella merely has a huge amount of class which isn't necessarily synonymous with wealth, just haven been brought up properly!
