I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. My husband passed away unexpectedly 2 years ago and I know that those "bewitching hours" can be difficult to relax into. That was the time of day I spent most with my husband - dinner and relaxing together after work. Now, I feel anxiety creeping up as dinner approaches until I fall asleep. I think having a happy place of distraction is always beneficial and I'm glad you found something that worked to help soothe you. Watching your videos is often a place I turn to help calm my own anxiety down. :)

thank you so much for sharing this! I really want to give it a try, I think it will help me! I suffer from depression, PTSD, and other mental health and health issues, but anxiety is the biggest one, especially, as you said, from dinnertime to bedtime. I live alone too and it's so hard after 5pm. I used to make "junk journals" about 10 years ago, but then I never used them because they were too pretty. This is a good compromise. I still have a ton of scrapbook paper, and plenty of pictures and odds and ends to fill it, but it's going to take me awhile to afford the other stuff I'd like to have for it...the rings and laminator and pages! What a beautiful idea though!

Hello , Have not got into the flip part yet but I have to comment. you keep saying it has no purpose but you are wrong. It brings you joy, keeps you busy, clams your mind. I'd say that's one hell of a purpose. Mental health is very important. I have a personal rings I carry around with me everywhere and it too is for my mental health. It helps me keep hands busy ( bad skin issues, so no poking and picking ) plus my mind. Man my mind can sure ruin a good day. Im glad you jumped in and said f it I'm doing this for me!!

Just to add something to think about - as you look around my age, I wanted to bring up that a sudden ramp up of anxiety can be part of perimenopause and menopause. As this is something I'm starting to study for my own benefit, it's amazing the number of symptoms besides hot flashes that can be linked to that change in life. I highly recommend any women in our age group look into and study everything involved with that process, it's eye opening.

I love this discussion. I’m a brown, 46 year old woman that is one of the first in my family to seek mental health help for what was formally diagnosed as CPTSD. The things my family has “normalized” in terms of symptoms is all too real in many Latin homes, yet many struggle without considering that it’s more because of stigma . I love seeing this kind of open discussion about mental health because I’m positive most people struggle with some form of it at some point. The more we know what the symptoms look like, the more likely people will get much needed help for proper management.

Robin, its so nice to meet you. Thank you for opening up about your story. I believe everyone has a certain level of anxiety and their own ways of dealing with it. I can certainly hear the joy as you flip through your planner. Don’t think that you are not artistic, your planner is an expression of yourself which is the very root of what art is! You are a beautiful person and you will find sustainable work soon. I just left a job due to high anxiety. It is impossible to deal with anxiety when it keeps building. I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with your job. I hope you find something you enjoy. We've had so much organizational change where I work and I think I have an ulcer because of it. As for my planner, I decided to do a complete reset. I'm using a passport-sized horizontal weekly booklet from Sterling Ink paired with a passport sized grid notebook to do plain-jane daily notes pages. No stickers, no fancy layouts, just jot down what I need to do each day and then cross it off. It's helping me manage the chaos. I've committed to using these until I finish them.
