Years ago about 1990/91 i went to see Man Utd vs Arsenal at old Trafford. Saw a young Ryan Giggs play Rocastle(R.I.P.) scored for Arsenal. Giggs must have been 17 approximately. He played well i was impressed with him. Incidentally I am a Arsenal supporter. When you're ready you're ready. No i dont believe in hyping players too much. I can see why supporters want to see more of Nwaneri in the first team. Craziest part apart Nwaneri situation was he was a special case. Nwaneri at age 15 was playing u23 football. He was training with the first team at 15 prior to that debut. He was a player that a long time club scout who been there 30+ years said Nwaneri was easily a top 10 talent to come into the academy, this was 14/15 year old Nwaneri. When Nwaneri made the PL bench & played he was already at age 15 was playing v 20+ year olds for Arsenal U23. Nwaneri made the bench prior to the Brentford debut because of injuries including to Odegaard that game. Arsenal had no bench, this was pre Trossard, Jorginho, Kiwior additions. Nwaneri at 16 had all the top clubs tripping over eachother from Man City to Chelsea. Man city made Nwaneri a great offer and did everything to try get him, Man City have built a great reputation in recent years with there Academy & recruiting youth talent. They went above and beyond to try get Nwaneri. Chelsea similarly did the same where they offered him 30k wages at 16. Nwaneri at one point looked like he was gone with Arsenal not being willing to match there offers.

Yep, this is the real point with the whole situation. We've also seen the same thing with Amario Cozier-Duberry going to Brighton this season and Omari Hutchison going to Chelsea (who they've sold for £20m after he barely played for them). It was nothing to do with 'rewarding' him or stroking Arteta's ego, but rather trying to show the player he had a pathway open so that he would sign a contract when it came to it.

You are correct about Saliba his mother died and he was homesick but the narrative from some was Arteta didn’t like him and he wouldn’t play for Arsenal with Arteta in charge. Arteta gave Ethan that debut to show him that he is on a clear and obvious pathway to the first team and as he's still very young, Arteta is nurturing his talent in a similar way to how Pep Guardiola did with Phil Foden and Cole Palmer. Pep's slowly slowly method of developing young players has definitely paid off as both of them have become some of the best and most exciting young talents in European football.
