Can't believe a manager is measured against the feel good feeling he creates. Relying on individual moments of brilliance is NOT management. England got as far as they have in tournaments purely because of the run ins, not because of ANY input Southgate had. The one time he doesn't completely luck out in the run in and he loses at the quarter final stage - the same as other managers have under us. Against Italy we go 1-0 up after two minutes and then Southgate plays a back 7 and lets Italy run all over us and they win. Winter recommended Hodgson for the job. The FA made Stuart Pearce Capello's assistant and that did not work out well. If you want someone capable of making clever tactical changes in big matches, no English candidate has that experience, not even Howe. They are not going to win the World Cup with Potter or Carsley. Pep has made some appalling tactical such as dropping Rodri for the Champions League final, he often panics under pressure. I would go with Tuchel for the next World Cup, he's tactically shrewd and is a proven winner and unlike Sven and Capello he has lived in England. Poch would be second.
