Promoting world class talent from the academy is an important part of the culture of the club. But to claim that this is done without also signing world class players is absolute nonsense. Do you work for the Glazers or something? Clearly not your money that you are deciding how it should be spent. Ten Hag had a great track record of promoting youth. The hours given to teenagers by him put him at the top of the table for youth development by a country mile. It means nothing when you look at the poor quality of players that have been pushed through the academy over the last two decades. They should have signed a world class striker, years ago. But they instead gave us Marcus Rashford (for free) and convinced you that he was a world class superstar that had "come from the yoof".

The player I'd buy in January is Ben Chilwell on a cut price deal where Sancho goes to Chelsea for less than what's already agreed. He's a LWB specialist and added cover for a problem position as we can't rely on Shaw and Malacia, and that frees up Dalot and Mazrouri to play in the RWB position.

Chilwell isn't ideal because of his injury record but should be cheap and plays in a specialist position that would fit Amorim's preferred formation.

I can understand a drop off of about 10-15% but you see someone like Rashford who's level goes up & down like it does then its best to move him on especially if he's on 300k/w.
