That’s how native speakers pronounce the letter.. it’s not actually N, the English language doesn’t have the exact equivalent of the letter’s real sound. I watched a video somewhere how to pronounce the letter correctly but a great thing about Hangeul is the letter shows how you should “form” your tongue inside your mouth. So “ㄴ” would be like relaxing your tongue on the base your mouth, so when you add a vocal, your tongue will softly touch the back of your upper front teeth..

for people who don’t understand the “r” and the “n”! So basically (this is the easiest I can explain it) the “r” isn’t and r sound and in rainbow. It is more like an “lr” sound as lemon. Try to use your tongue to the top of your mouth to make an “r” sound! For the “n” is more like a “dn” like for tree, dna-bu! I think that’s tree in Korean but I’m not 100% sure. That’s how I can explain it!!

I have a burning question specifically for the teachers and it may be a bit confusing how I ask it: How well must you know Korean before you can begin teaching it yourself to others? I might consider myself intermediate depending on the topic, but I've already started tutoring students at or below A-1 level. Is there an ethical delima here? Or is it okay if I'm clear about only being comfortable teaching beginers? When did each of you realize you were ready to teach? Er...I mean for those of you who learned Korean as a second language? OR this question: When did the native-speaking Korean teachers know when they could teach English to other Korean speakers? I'm curious what each person's threshold was, native or otherwise. Thank you.
@火·魂2 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on who you’re going to teach. Formally, professionally, or informally, just for fun? I consider myself an intermediate too and I sometimes teach my frds Korean just for fun. However, if you’re looking to teach the language formally e.g. maybe tutoring or even teaching in a language academy, I think you ought to be more prepared. Of course it would be best if you could learn up to the advanced level, and I’d suggest you taking the TOPIK exam for an official qualification, to prove your Korean proficiency! Honestly I myself loveee the idea of becoming a Korean teacher as well, but I’d thought of scenarios where if a student ask me grammatical questions or about vocabularies, I might not be clear about the answers myself/ I might rmb or write the words wrongly. I just don’t want to be an irresponsible teacher teaching wrong stuff... Hope this helps and Fighting!
@火·魂2 жыл бұрын
Oh to add on I think my biggest problem is that I learnt Korean all by myself (self learnt), not systematically. Although I am able to read, listen and speak Korean, my writing is so shit 😂 (cus I rarely write Korean in my daily life) so despite being an intermediate lvl, I constantly have to look up on online dictionaries to see if I’ve written the words wrongly, or whether my way of expressing is correct.
