Ben, you couldn't pay me enough to do all that block build I'm tired and sore just watching you put them in. I remember when you rebuilt your home and the time it took with all your other chores and work around the homestead and it looks awesome. The addition and deck are going to look awesome. Great job. I’ve been sitting here day dreaming about your addition. Ya know. If you take some of that dirt out now under the house portion. Maybe cut into the hill with the tractor bucket and level it out a bit. It might make a great place to store produce. You can add gravel, put some shelves in there…. A door in the end wall at the corner. Lots of potential.

Here in New Zealand we have to put steel running from in the footings to near the top and have a hollow core so it can be solid poured cause we have a lot of earthquakes of various strengths 😊

Gary had never done pillars before. And I knew how important it was to apply the concrete. I know this has prolonged your build, but you will be grateful. It’s looking wonderful.

Check out the cooking serving eating patio set at Stony Ridge Farmer. It would be a perfect summer family dinner. The food rotates for cooking and serving. Wood coals. Griddle trays and wire for searing. Cover center for baking.

Might want to think about putting your vapor barrier down once the block is done and before covering the floor in that section. Maybe even a temporary plastic cover for that area in the mean time just to keep moisture out of the dirt while building. Just a thought...
