Tallahassee Police Department

Tallahassee is the state capital of Florida and is home to multiple prestigious universities. Tallahassee PD is one of the oldest accredited police departments but remains a progressive policing agency, serving its diverse population by keeping them fully engaged and informed.
From this approach came their motto “H.E.R.E. For You”. A sentiment long felt by the department, coming together with this new phrase allowed both officers and the community what they were all working together for.
H.E.R.E. stands for:
• Helping to protect and serve
• Engaging and educating citizens
• Retaining trust and strengthening relationships
• Evolving towards a better tomorrow.
The department continues to reflect these values in a number of ways - from directed patrols to protect the areas of the city with the highest crime rates, to keep the community educated in the way it’s using new technology like licence plate readers, and from building a relationship through its Citizens Advisory Council to an intense training programme for police recruits.
It's through activities like these that the city knows it has one of the nation’s best police departments, and Tallahassee PD continues to evolve as they move into a new community-focused headquarters.
