The Canary Island date Palms once mature are rated to take -8.5 degrees Celsius, However in my opinion they can take even lower temperatures at this size for short periods. the ones you get at local nurseries in 5 litre pots would probably take -6 celcius, however if planted in a good location you can create your own microclimate.

Yeah, they can pretty much be grown anywhere in the UK

I am jealous you don't need winter heating cables. Here in Czechia it is impossible to grow date palms because they would frost.

By the way I don’t think that’s a pure canary palm it looks to be a hybrid between a Pygmy palm and canary palm. Sometimes people will mix their canary palm with a Pygmy palm and sell it and market it as a pure canary palm. They do this because if the were to just buy another canary palm to sell they would hardly make any money due to the price of canaries
