That mostly makes sense, I saw one other thing in the lyrics in addition to what you've said. The kid is also noticing all the sexual innuendos all around him now that he is getting older. "Here's the pinky (innocent child's game), there's the kinky (not so innocent anymore)". "Everybody likes to get taken for turns, To see how bright the fire inside of us burns, And everybody wants to get evil tonight, But all good devils masquerade under the light" to a kid would sound as if it's about something like going on an adventure and fighting monsters, but gains new meaning with the kid wanting to find out how bright the fire (of love) inside himself is, and wanting to get "evil" (doing all the things that he was told were evil). Then at 2:04 the "it" is sex. Every teen is assumed to want sex, even if they don't really understand it yet. This kid doesn't - he has what he thought is an innocent crush on a girl, and then realizes that that IS all about sex, which to him is still a "monster".

I think mr grey zombie guy is actually a good guy. Let me explain; the first night he gets the kid out of that nightmare, albeit roughly. The second night he pulls the kid from the water and puts him in a rocket to the moon, giving him a peaceful night and productive day. The third night he gets on a coaster with the kid. The kid is terrified, but you can see the mr grey zombie has no intentions to harm him. His body language throughout the ride shows that. Despite the kid being scared of him he actually means no harm.

Apparently, this song is about reaching puberty from the perspective of a kid who’s scared of growing up. The MV is based around that. There’s a scene where he has monster tentacles, which probably represent the anatomical changes of teenage years. That is not true. It seems to only be used when the character is brightly lit. For example, the second school scene where he is scared in the corner. Also the bedroom scenes before he sleeps are also outline-less Edit: actually, it seems like it is less shading, and more just contrast. There is less to make the outline of the kid obscured at night when there is only blue pajamas, compared to the multiple colors of his day outfit.

The dancing monsters kinda remind me of this monster that I used to imagine in my kitchen. It didn’t have a name back then but nowadays I call it the sock lady. It’s/she’s primarily made up of different rags, yarns and fabrics coloured purple piled on top of each other. She was essentially a very tall, humanoid rag mop.
