The Cobras are definitely louder / heavier impact for sure. Moving more air through the drum. Thanks for the demo. I am using cheap PDPs right now, but will eventually upgrade.

He achieves the same result with both pedals, but with the Axis he's able to move his legs/ankles/feet a lot less thus saving energy and stamina.

Look at the difference at :35 vs the Axis at :40. Much less side to side motion which means there's a lot less effort with the Axis.

Axis less energy used but less power. Prefer the power of the Iron cobra, speed is the same so I'm going for the more powerful stroke. I own both The top of the line Iron cobra and speed cobra's and you can't beat those two pedals in basically every aspect. Durable, fast, powerful and they're way better priced compared to the outrageous prices of other top line pedals.

No, you can clearly hear that the Axis is a lot more precised. And if you adjust the settings right, there's not even a lack of power.

There's no lack in dynamic*, if we're talking power, the one who's burying the drumhead surely is'nt going to be the axis, that why most drummers rely on triggers all the time while using these pedals, they play almost by themselves, but feel totally out of any charactere... That's why i bought myself a camco double bass, single chain, groovy and powerfull as fuck and yet super light ! just like the cobras in this video, it's powerfull enough to be heard at high speed without the need of any triggers !

Iron cobra sounds better. Nobody makes a better pedal than tama. Iron or speed Cobra. Which I have had both . But all bets were off when the dyna-sync entered the picture. I still have my speed Cobra as a backup to the dyna-sync. But I do have the two-legged speed Cobra hi hat stand, w/ kevlar strap instead of the chain. Love it, its so smooth. At the time I wasn't looking for a dyna-sync hihat or if they even had one yet. When I got the dyna-sync it had just cool me out. I'm thrilled with it. And I do have a dw5000 hihat stand, as backup. One of the most reliable hi-hat pedals ever. Good day.

Ive tried both these pedals. Axis feels lighter and more responsive. From a physics standpoint, if you are a bigger person/build, the weight of your legs will overcome the cobra's heaviness. It hits harder though because of that heaviness.

The iron cobra stays with the foot better because of the cobra coil, much more control

Actually the cobra coil is totally useless. I'd say they can even mess you up depending on your technique. That said, they can be removed, or you can get an older pair.

@@_Moses44 Thanks, I think? You don't have to take my word for it, just google reviews of the 3rd gen cobras. Most say they hate the coil, I chose to move to direct drives instead of buying new Iron Cobras or the direct drive Dyna Syncs personally because of that feature. FWIW I love Tama pedals, and I did not buy Axis lol.

@@MyTony40 The Dyna Syncs played a lot like Iron Cobras, just takes a lighter touch tbh. I just didn't want to hassle with the coil and replacing Tama's notoriously bad drive shaft.

Note that the VDL on the Axis is positioned about half-way--that's going to have a substantial impact on power. You can definitely get more power from Axis than what's demonstrated here. For this genre, triggers should be assumed (advice from SpectreSoundStudios etc.). As the playing with the Axis is notably cleaner, they live up to their reputation as the go-to pedal for this style (though you also have guys like JR Robinson playing them). Now if only they would just ship gear!

Tama is on the right track with the cobra coil. The Trick pro1 v uses a compression spring vs a pull spring. This keeps the pedal at your foot through every stroke.

It is not hard to make one pedal look worst. My take of this video is you can see the guy’s foot comes up a little higher and harder with the iron cobras then the axis. If he would play with the same intensity on the axis the results would be dam near identical or superior. I own both and i can say hands down i get more power and response from my axis. But its hard to see honesty when people are biased

Speed metal with basically blast beats the entire album is direct drive for sure, but any other style with dynamics and power and feel, I go iron or speed cobras all day, especially the new generation ones with the new updates. Best pedals I’ve ever played in my life. Not a blaster so I never really liked direct drive pedals, it’s all preference, hey if ur a jazz drummer and prefer direct drive then that’s cool with me but there’s a reason most types of drummers who play direct drives are in that same style and genre. Almost every other style drummer use chain pedals.

i use 2 single Axis XL Longboards, also presently use an Iron Cobra dbl pedal (my big kit is across the country with my Axis pedals), & i really have to say that i absolutely hate the Iron Cobra; chain drive, slow, sloppy-feeling, heavy, loose... Axis direct drive is faster, lighter, more accurate for my feet. No comparison at all. i played various Pearl chain drive a deals for about 17 years, then bought those Longboards. Instantly saw & felt a major improvement in playing & feel. Also more power. i have the springs just about maxed out on the Iron Cobra for a good tight feel/ rebound. It's the chain that's the problem; it slackens up on rebound just a little & i can feel it. Just relating my experience, not saying you're wrong. Love the IC beaters just as much as the Axis beaters. But for me, Axis is light-years beyond Tama. Awesome playing & patterns with the Axis pedals in your video. Keep drumming, buddy! \m/

No, Axis has it's own drive key slotting. Their drive shaft isn't much better than Tama's though. I replaced my Iron Cobra shaft with the Trick roller bearing shaft though, and it's freaking amazing. I considered continuing to use my 15 year old Cobras as my main pedals because they played like they were new again, maybe better.

Ormai credo che il Kopyto sia uno dei pedali direct migliori in commercio, il problema è il costo elevato. L'axis non è un pedale per tutti perché ha una risposta davvero particolare. Il giusto compromesso qualità prezzo è il Yamaha direct 👍

Però posso dire che effettivamente io ho avuto il dw 4000 che è un evoluzione dei camco e in effetti si può fare anche roba oltre i 260. Poi ovviamente ognuno sceglie il pedale che gli calza meglio, come le scarpe d'altronde. 😁. Poi alla fine quando i muscoli son buoni e allenati,suoni pure senza nulla sotto i piedi, pure il pavimento. Certo ogni pedale ha la sua sensazione e ognuno la percepisce soggettivamente, è per questo alla fine che esistono tanti tipi di pedali e di tutto ciò che concerne gli strumenti, tante possibilità diverse ,per soddisfare tutti .
