I have one and for smaller venues and clubs they are absolutely perfect. I play in a metal band and they cut through fine for smaller venues and for practice. They actually have good low end for how small and shallow they are. Awesome drums. My starclassic bb’s are for the studio and bigger venue shows and the neo mods are for smaller shows. Perfectttttionnnn

Tama makes the best drums for the money, hands down. Far and away better and more unique-sounding than DW, for sure. I still have my 2007 Starclassic Performer Birch/Bubinga kit that I got in 08, and it just gets better with age. It's my primary and only full drum kit, and I use it for home practice and gigs.

Then why are you watching?
@davidmcaninch47142 жыл бұрын
@@davidmerlin3344 to see what I’m missing out on. Normal people like me aren’t even allowed to go to NAMM. If you want to go to NAMM, you must be one of the following: a manufacturer, a demonstrator, a music store representative, a guest artist, or you have to have received an invitation from the following people I mentioned. I am none of these things, and no one in the music industry knows who I am. So going to NAMM is a dream that will never come true, not for me at least. I guess it’s for the best, though. I have autism and I love musical instruments, and unfortunately, I have a tendency to want to touch some of them. I’m pretty sure that one of the basic unwritten rules is no touchy. Oh well, at least I get to watch videos of NAMM.

What's with all the handheld mics this year? Who forgot the lav wireless packs?
@bigkickleo2 жыл бұрын
There are fewer problems with RF interfrence with handheld wired mics. A very large convention with lots of presentations and many people trying to communicate across and throughout the building = WX nightmare. Also - lav mics are typically omnidirectional and therefore prone to picking up just as much ambient noise as well as the person speaking. Some folks are still using lavs (based on other posts. But that would definitely require a bit more post production to clean up the audio.

Those drums were under a grand a year ago. Now they are mid 1500? But there's no inflation.
@bgnPrinceton2 жыл бұрын
What drums? Not the Starclassic Performers. But everything has gone up in price. There's been price increases a couple of times on every kit coming out of China. It's them new tariffs being passed on to the consumer, exactly as everyone knew would happen. The good news is there are new USA drum factories popping up in every town! :D

Those are the Starclassic Maple Birch which were always priced around $1300 to $1400 for the 5 piece kit. Now they’re up to $1600 for the 5 piece shell pack kit. The Superstar Classics are the lower end budget kit closer to $1000 for the 7 piece kit.

Beautiful kits/finish.....but typical for MOST drum mfgs. NOT hating, just reality; as for the best sounding kit(s)....that's all TUNING, dampening, and ABILITY. I've owned Ludwig, Pearl, DW. They were all great.....IF tuned and played w/ some dexterity. Besides, I've heard too many guys on RUSH/Peart inspired kits that DIDN'T sound like Neil!! It's the DRUMMER more than the kit. Have to respectfully disagree with the Tama rep. The whole 10/12/14/16/22 thing has been done to DEATH. More and more I find myself looking for kits that offer 24" bass drums and 13" toms and 18" floor toms as options. When was the last time you saw a non custom order 15" tom available? Manufacturers have been offering the same stock sizes for 25 years now. Time to change it up.

I can get you 3-D Studiomaxx for half price."

All of these paint finishes covering up these beautiful woods means one thing, hiding something. Now from an economical standpoint I get it, they can use uglier pieces of wood because they are just covering it up. So same tone woods just not the best of the best. But that savings should be passed onto the customer. I love Tama been a loyal customer for over 20 years, but a lot of these look like someone’s finger paintings on drums.
