Maybe this is just my head canon, but 'd like to think Goku made it look easier because he had special training. Kami and King Kai are mostly responsible for refining Goku's skills in ways beyond how strong you can get. Vegeta is a prodigy fighter, but he never really received any "divine" training. up to this point.

It's just a difference in fighting styles. Goku is more martial arts based with a counter puncher mindset. While vegeta is more of a come forward fighter, that prefers aerial combat and energy blasts. Goku likes fighting on the ground more.

Goku was keeping up well with 3 in base. Vegeta and Goku are very similar in base and Vegeta is having problems with 2. Majin Kuu is hard to fully determine, but still #1 made easy work of him and seems to be the strongest tamagami. We all know the trope that if everyone gets different weapons it's the guy with the sword who is the leader lol. (ninja turtles or power rangers anyone)

Goku also struggled against 3 in base and didn't land clean hits until he went SSJ. The only thing you could blame Vegeta for here is not going all out and turn SSJ2 from the start, but that's what every saiyan besides Future Trunks does.
