So, so true. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this early on. (I still have the origional vinyl). For years it seemed I was the only one who knew about it and wondered why it wasn't massive. Then U-Tube came along and it seemed to kick start general awareness of this gem.

Mt Tam has some great history and I knew them all and the first time I was on Mt Tam was when Janis Joplin took me to the top back in 1968. I spent so many night on Mt Tam with the SFAA where we hold our Star Parties. I even gave the name of our newsletter " Above the Fog" in memory of all the nights we spent up at Rock Springs and even before that was where in the Hippie days was a fun and great place to get stoned and sun bathe with no cloths on and have a ball!

But don't forget how many others were on it. As I write this I am heading a guitar solo that is obviously Jorma Kaukaoun from the Jefferson Airplane. Most of the rest of that band, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Joni, Neil, Nash and many more. Oh to have been a fly on the wall there.

One of the hardest rides of all the Rock 'n' Roll biographies I've soaked up. And usually, or often, they are tragic and or terminal in nature on the topics of drug abuse and other wayward behaviours; yet still Crosby takes most of the cake, and that's saying something, I reckons.

some of the first acid tests were on Marin beaches where Bobby Weir said some trippin dude thought up the whole concept of the internet, though he imagined it as a telepathic internet. Scientists nearby had similar ideas. And now we can share all this. When acid didn't do damage it could offer incredible insights. and I commend artists who have managed to capture the essence of it.

Yes, a classic jam from the golden years. But I am pretty sure it is Jack Cassidy from the Airplane on bass, not Phil Lesh.

@@steveaustin2620 plus Phil played bass on the album version of this track, I'm going to agree
@gerryjarcia4 жыл бұрын
Definitely Phil Lesh, and it's Casady. They were all recording albums in the same studio and sat in with each other it's hard to keep them straight. Plus this one is so mellow the bassist mostly hangs back so it'd be just about impossible for anyone other than a bassist with a keen ear to tell the difference. But on this track, it's Phil.
