I get what you are saying about one being their self, but sometimes things about one's self needs changing. It took me getting to age fifty, I am older now, to realize that wisdom truly does come with age. That's around the time that I realized that there were things about myself that I truly didn't like. So whatever makes your partner uncomfortable or unhappy should ALWAYS be considered for the betterment of your relationship, in order for it to thrive. Whatsoever you feed grows, so if your partner is uncomfortable with a situation and you ignore it or don't address it/handle it/find a solution, that uncomfortability is going to grow and cause issues in the long run. Find a solution to bind that bleed if your relationship matters. If he or she is not happy around the other person address it, and make your partner comfortable at all cost. Like y’all said…you know immediately whether you want to move forward with someone into something serious, or not. So I think somewhere sooner than later, but not too soon…is ideal for discussing finances. You don’t want to attract a gold-digger too soon, but you also don’t want to waste time entertaining someone for months on in, just to later find out that yall aren’t financially compatible. You both make good points! I also think you can immediately scope out someone’s financial situation, by their occupation, their housing situation & how they decide to spend their money. So I say; discuss occupations on the first date…and finances at least a couple months in. No later, no sooner!

It's great to have a understanding of any relationship, and the both should be aware of those "ex's" because of the children sake and truly nothing more. Because at the end of the day, it's about everyone having some source of adult relationship where no boundaries are cross. Yes, JR has the most factors to accept when it comes to the children that's involved. But, that's where the line of communication must be key and a strong factor of understanding share be in place at all times. I believe learning from any situation from the past- should allow one to understand what's necessary and what isn't. And at the end of the day, as long as all that's involved in the relationship can Live, Laugh, Love, and Learn something from each other. Its called preventive care. If your partner is uncomfortable with a friend, then you separate the two worlds with that person. If your perspective is that your partner is trying to force your choices...thats your own perspective that you are entitled to, but you have to acknowledge that its your personal negativity and not necessarily what the truth is. I agree 100% JR. I have a situation where my boyfriend is friends with his ex from 20 years ago. It IS a problem…that he communicates with her secretly and sends her gifts. So, because Tamar has no problem with it…it is a problem when that “friendship” crosses the line.
