I enjoyed the video--thank you! I discovered de Lempicka years ago and she became my favorite artist--bar none! She is terribly underrated and not known well enough. When other "artists" sell for millions for smears and spatters, Ms de Lempicka is an example of what art ought to be. Beauty! Beauty! Beauty!

Well, I'm not laughing, and I avoided mentioning when I saw the misspelling because I didn't want to be overbearing. But epidemy is but really a weird used in English, although if it were, it works mean related to an epidemic disease. The context of your (@carole lerman's) comment clearly indicates an intent to say epitome. People make mistakes in spelling or usage all the time. When I was growing up I had only read the word epitome and had never heard it used, so I had an incorrect impression of how it would be pronounced. Mistakes like these are caused when you've only heard a word but never seen it written, or in my case, I had seen it written but never heard it pronounced. Neither is a good reason to laugh at someone.

Great video. Always look forward to these. It’s look like these humanist artists seem to die with so many regrets. Her story isn’t too far from Salvador Dali’s or Picasso. Once the glory days are gone, their success feels like it was all for nothing. What a sad way to go. At least her works transcend the time she lived on this earth. Bravo!

It didn't say she regretted her life at all lol it said she regretted "getting old" and her "declining beauty." That's...different and pretty damn universal. Among women even in their 20's but she was like 80+ with worse eyesight and abilities. I mean the power of her beauty saved at least two people from the grips of nazi germany. Have you lost that to the ravages of time? Give her a break.

Thank you for creating such an amazing introduction video about the painter’s extraordinary life. You made me see that she was more than just an artist. She lived through the turbulent years between two world wars and overcame financial struggles by aligning herself with the rich and powerful, entertaining them and leveraging those connections. But beyond that, she worked hard and developed her own unique style, which earned her a lasting place in art history. It’s a shame that later in life, she became stagnant, unwilling to adapt or explore new trends, and was ultimately forgotten by society. It’s such a reflection of life-when you’re open to change, creative, and connected with others, you thrive. But when you’re too rigid and resistant, the world moves on without you.

De Lempicka's artistic style was intriguing. And what a personality! A hell of a gal. To adapt her style to what was selling when times were lean would have been against her identity. @v.ra.2 жыл бұрын
Indeed, her father was Russian, and she was selve-identified Polished (like her mother). Now about the pronunciation, I believe that Łempicka (c as tz) is just quite a bit better sounding. Also, East Europeans are quite tired of hearing rather easy-to-pronounce names from the region butchered by English speakers. We all have put in the effort to acquire English so you don't have to learn any other language. That being said I would kindly ask you for bit of effort as a sign of respect when pronouncing foreign names. Also, I love the video and the channel so no bad feelings. Just stating facts :)
@johnfitzgerald76182 жыл бұрын
@@v.ra. He also mispronounced Carnegie, a Scottish name, and a considerable number of the French names, so he's not really discriminating against Eastern Europeans. He could have looked them up, of course. In the end, though, as you say, it's an excellent video despite all that.
