WOW so glad that you got a chance to review this so quickly. I watched the roll out. From what they said you can use the Boom X-D receiver and you could use one Boom XD Pro transmitter and the VM30 at the same time. I could see where your talent could both have mics and then you could but this onto a boom to go back to an external recorded as redundancy. Keep rocking.

I got the VM30 today. I'm not an audio guy and I want EASY set-ups. I have many different mics. From my testing I did today the Comica sounds great. Smart design. This and the DJI mic for 2 people or LAVs is the other set up I'm gonna keep. Gonna have an audio Garage Sale tomorrow. Tried many, like few. You have a really nice voice for audio tests. Very clean. Very even. No spiking at all. I'd love to hear you get a little loud for true changes in volume. That's where quality shows up. Thanks!

Interesting, but I am really happy with the Senheiser MKE200 from a previous video of yours. I shot a 2 hour music event with it, and with some minor EQ tweaking, the sound was the best out of all the sources I used. On a separate note, your LUTs save me a ton of time dialing in a look. They are a great starting point.

Nice review! Question, is it possible to have the audio from the shotgun mic go directly out of the microphone into the camera via the TRS cord, while simultaneously transmitting the audio to receiver, also attached to a different camera? Basically sending clean audio to both cameras without a wire between the two? (Obviously you would need two TRS to TRS cords.)

@@TamaraGabrielUK It's going to be on my camera, and maybe some videos like interviews, but more than that, I care about the audio quality as well. thank you so much
@TamaraGabrielUK Жыл бұрын
I tend to prefer shotgun mics over wireless mics especially for interviews, as shotgun mics tend to sound clearer as they’re directional so they cut down on surround noise and ambient sounds. But if you have someone who’s quite animated and moves their head a lot whilst talking then a wireless mic / lav mic would be better.

Is it me or the section with the Comica outside is terribly noisy with the wind? Was that with the windshield? I was listening with headphones, and when you switched to Sennheiser my soul found peace again ;P. But then I was very surprised you didn't mention that at all. I actually have the Videomic NTG, but cannot quite use it outside with racking 45 euros for a branded windshield. So I was looking at alternative and this COmica mic seems great. But if that's the best result outdoor with the windshield, it doesn't solve my need. Let me know if you have some more insights, thx ! :) Great Vid !

@matango19794 ай бұрын
It has a little more hissing than for example the Diety D3 Pro. I own both. In terms of just the sound, the D3 Pro is slightly better, but everything else the Comica is better. The D3 Pro is susceptible to RF interference. The wireless feature, the safety track, the case with all the extras, the PC and smartphone options are all making it a great deal. I like having it wireless when I attach it on the side of the gimbal or just leave it somewhere outside the frame. Maybe they can improve it even more with the next generation.

Hi there, thank you for the review! I was wondering if the 24bit sampling of the microphone is referred to its maximum capability or it actually has some internal pre-amps that give you 24bits no matter what. I'm asking because I would pair it with a Lumix S1H which has only 16bit audio recording internally, so if this gives you 24bit with preamps it would be a total game changer. Cheers!

Hi Tamara--went out and got a slightly older version Comica VM20 without the wireless set up. Could you share your experience/rules of thumb for the gain settings on the mic? Indoors vs. outdoors, vs. distance from subject, vs. amount of background noise? Any insights would be helpful. Thanks.
@TamaraGabrielUK Жыл бұрын
Try and have the mic as close to your mouth as possible; the closer it is the cleaner the audio will sound. Turn your pre-amps down in the camera and max out the gain on the mic, this will also give you cleaner audio. When looking at your audio levels on the camera you want them to be around -12dB to -9dB, just make sure they don’t peak over -6dB. I find -9dB to be the sweet spot. You may have to increase the audio levels in the camera to get to -9dB depending on the distance between you and the mic, but again, just make sure most of the gain increase is coming from the mic not the camera audio record levels. In this video I’m using a different mic but it might help a bit to watch it kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ-cqaqceq56aLc

@@matango1979 In audio terms, bright refers to a sound that has an emphasis on the higher frequencies, often making it feel clear, crisp, and sharp. This means the treble or high-end of the audio spectrum is more pronounced, leading to more noticeable details like vocals, cymbals, or string instruments. A bright sound can be perceived as lively or sparkling but might also be harsh or piercing if overemphasized.
