Wear what you like , wear what you’ve earned. Live your best life. I’ve worked hard to afford all of the luxe I’ve bought and it’s for me and no one else. Most people in my experience that give me a hard time about my luxury items can’t afford any of them. It’s also reverse elitism. … “I can’t have it so you shouldn’t either”. Enjoy the best version of yourself. Be kind and mind your own business (and wardrobe)! 😊
@TamaraKalinic

This reverse elitism really sparked my thought. I used to be bullied in high school by girl that would say nasty things to me just because i had nice clothes, isnt that crazy?

I agree. Quiet luxury is as much a style and trend as loud luxury. The old money/new money is where is starts to get people pushing more judgement. Some days I’m loud, some days quiet. But I am always me. Thank you for all your wonderful content.

I have been thinking about this, in the context of not wanting to make anyone feel uncomfortable if i wear a luxury item. Especially now when we are going through recession. It feels wrong to "brag". Its natural. I am also feeling increasingly more guilty about spending money on trivial luxury items when I could have spent this amount on charity and to help people and animals.

Hello Tamara- I do not comment often but felt this video at heart. We are moving toward a world of divisiveness scary thought but evident . Thank you for being someone who sees that there is more to people than just the wrapping and expressing morals and values that seem lacking in many now.

Sometimes people forgot that having style is not just having some clothing style. Class always mean you are s good person, kind, elegant when you speak, listen, see a human as human amd not as a hanger for clothes. I really like how you approach this theme of quiet luxury . Nothing is black and white and if you really discover that no logo/simple items and good materials are something you have always wanted and wished it is just your fashion style and it is good. But if you are promoting a way of life you are not even living that is just ridiculous and especially if you judge others because of their fashion style. So not classy. Even if you wear all those quiet luxury things, they are just THINGS.

At the end of the day both the quiet/loud luxury are spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on ready to wear or bags. Both require money. There's a certain judgement that I don't like from the quiet luxury crowd. Don't wear logos or do, it's still an aesthetic. It's all about styling and personality to me. I can't imagine Cassie Thorpe wearing the Row. I say this as someone who loves her style. Also I can't imagine you dressing like her. Both of you have curated a personal style that's very different. Fashion is pretty personal.

Think at end end of the day, I agree, everyone should live their life as they want and wear what they like and feel good. I just bought my first designer bag, a beautiful Loewe puzzle bag and love it because it fits my lifestyle and not because some people consider it quiet luxury. Hate if need to justify myself for what I like to spend my money and a lot of people make it their business if we talk about luxury. Love your style and your videos here. ❤

Thank you for this Tamara! It's frustrating how everything needs to be labeled these days, and it seems like "quiet" luxury is just another buzzword/trending topic. If it's emphasized about so much, can it really be considered quiet? Big No. Just wear what's pleasing to you and mind your own business. At the end of the day, fashion is about personal preference and style, so let's enjoy it without worrying about labels. After all, "quiet" luxury has always been a part of fashion, and there's nothing new about that. P.S. I'm a huge fan and love your videos! ❤

I tend to stick to more "quiet luxury" brands (and I always have)- not to make some sort of a statement about how I'm "better than" anyone else- but because the pieces tend to be of higher overall quality and will therefore have more longevity. I also prefer to make a more subtle, "if you know, you know"- kind of a statement with my clothing & accessories... but that's just a personal preference- idc if other people want to dress in head-to-toe logo, as long as it makes them happy. I'm sure I wear some things that others might not like for themselves, & that's also fine. That said- I would LOVE to see a "quiet luxury fashion" video for spring/summer! 😍

Tamara, I love your how you are clear on your ethical standards. You are very empathetic. I like what you said about people having unique styles. I have a friend who is just the nicest person, and very successful at any grand thing she tackles, and her fashion sense is basically everything I would never wear. She is a riot of prints, sequins, leggings and polyester. She tops it all off every day with the same synthetic wig riding askew atop her head. I think I am looking good, but she probably thinks I look boring. So at the end of the day, we appreciate all of that person for their unique personality and the style that goes with it.

So well said on quiet luxury. First of all, those who are following and obsessing about this trend are often people that are less well off - in most western democracies where wealth has been passed on for generations those who have always had money don’t call it “quiet luxury”, they just want to blend in to live normal outward lives (go to uni, maybe have a job, go out in public). Secondly, I have read that the source of this trend comes from the economic recession that is looming. As people are experiencing economic uncertainty, they like to outwardly show and inwardly feel financial stability through things like dressing up like the rich people, who will largely won’t be affected by inflation or a market crash I don’t necessarily think therefore that quiet luxury is used to look down on others by “rich” people, but used by “normal” people to feel more self secure in uncertain times when other more real pillars of stability like buying a house and having a stable job are not options

You could be an introverted extrovert. You enjoy the interaction and it fills your energy bucket; however, you also need a moment to recalibrate which is when you enjoy that time at home. You enjoy the experience not just the journey. Do a DISC Assessment and in particular focus on your drivers. That should reveal a lot 😊.

Life is too short, surround yourself with true honest friends , buy what you love and most important can afford. Donate when you can it will fulfill you, help when you can as well. Find a hobby. Fashion is just a portion of life . People or (some )people as they mature thru their life experiences they will understand what I mean. Angel I agree 💯 when you spoke about status . I love you angel. ♥️♥️♥️ Also you are born with class . It can not be taught. It’s how you express yourself, how you treat people, how kind you are to others and so much more. Muahhhhhh 😘😘😘😘😘

I’m not pretending to be part of some elitist club or whatever. I am who I am and that’s it. I’m more impressed with self made “new money” people who actually did something to earn their fortunes, than all those people who were born into it and never had to work a day in their life.

I hardly comment on your videos, but I deeply respect your opinion about quite luxury, and i agree with you. I think someone should have the right to wear whatever they want regardless of what "influencers" refer to you as whats "new" and "chic.""" It shouldn't impact someone's wardrobe and personal style. I don't come from old money, and I don't enjoy logomania styles, but I do have close friends who are and do wear logos but that's because they feel comfortable, confident and they know how to style it properly regardless of their financial history.

I agree with 95% of your thoughts regarding quiet luxury and I’m really glad that you highlighted that quiet luxury is a trend just like logo-mania! It’s an ebb and flow, which the people who love fashion understand. And the focus shouldn’t be who is a “have” and who is a “have not” - it’s mean and unnecessary. However, I must stay, your thoughts regarding vulgarity in relation to fashion is honestly unfair. In particular it seems to be focused on women (based on your comment about a large chest person wearing a mesh cc top) - and it got me thinking, if the person had a small or flat chest that style and person would be considered “chic” while those with more voluptuous bodies are portrayed as vulgar. Sounds like the unfortunate history of certain bodies being hyper-sexualized over other bodies and I think we should move away from that type of thinking. Any body shape (and person) can be “chic” including those who dress a bit more revealing. And seeing that you work in fashion and at times wear more sexy, revealing clothes, I think it’s unfair to try and make that distinction. Overall, I’m glad you talked about this topic, I really wish we could get to a place of enjoying fashion without trying to feel better than someone else in the process…

Where does the LV monogram print sit in the quiet luxury argument? I know they are moving away from their canvas products but the prints have been around for years.

This is what I love about you! You are the most humble and you have never come across as a braggart or entitled. I used to watch some UK fashion girls but they always came off as entitled or better then, It would always rub me the wrong way. I love your honesty and seeing you be so comfortable in who you are and want to portray. I must say I always love seeing you and Filippo together. That man adores you! Thank you for giving me 2 days in the week to look forward to......xo

Bought 2 very expensive handbags via Vestiaire they were authenticated. Upon arrival I was certain something was off with the bags and had them authenticated myself by a professional and turned out, I was scammed. Bought a fake Hermes and a fake Channel and Vestiaire refused to even do anything about it. Turns out this is happening all the time these days and these re-sell sites don’t put any afford in to truly authenticate these pieces anymore. So be careful buying second hand. I stoped after loosing an extortionate amount of money.
