Asalamu Alaykum please I am confused when you take 1 from 4 and add it to the 1 you said it 7 why

Normally what you take away is equivalent to the base which is 7

For example, in base ten when you borrow, the value of what you borrow is 10. For any other base, say, 5, whatever you borrow is equivalent (equal) to 5. In his example, it was in base seven, so when you borrow, the value is 7 (equal to the base)
