"Whatever I've done, I did it for love." I can't express my love for that lyrics, along with the intensity of the instrumental. It's so good, omg.

The Slow Rush is such a fantastic concept album. The concept is time, and it starts off with a track called ‘One More Year’ which is a song about enjoying a year to yourself, postponing everything until that year is up. When it begins he says “remember we were standing here a year ago?” Essentially saying it’s already been one year and they’re going for one more year. It ends with “One More Hour” which is the final hour of that year, however the song ends with “I’m with you and I can roll into another year” beautiful. Like time is infinite inside this album from start to finish. I love this album. My favourite sound on it is the end of ‘breathe deeper’ as well as the melody at the end of this song.

@gabrielcesar60824 жыл бұрын
Not only that. I feel like an tame impala album is so good that makes you wanna listen again in loop. In the last track "one more hour" he says "I'm with you and I can roll with you another year" being the last hours of the year. When it ends (and the album starts again in loop) it plays "one more year" again - exactly when another year begins (if you, obviously, listen the album in the last hours of the year) AND the album has almost one hour 😂 Genius. I may be tripping but makes sense to me, or it's just coincidence
@tropicalfruit45714 жыл бұрын
To be fair, Kevin said himself that it's not a concept album. He said he wanted to achieve this idea of the passing of time within the album but that's about it. Interestingly enough, he also said that he has no idea if the songs sound good in the order he chose; it's more of an order he thought was good enough and he hoped it sounds good. Obviously some choices are in your face, One More Year and One More Hour, as well as On Track where "it's nearly August" and it's the 7th song on the album and the album has 12 songs... I'd say he nailed the idea of time but it's hard to say if it's a concept album even if the artist says it's not xD
@neja10014 жыл бұрын
not really correct. it s actually an album devoted almost completely to his recent marriage and all the struggle, unknown it comes with besides his family relationships. getting used to, risk of being bored of each other and more feelings if you read lyrics carefully. it s mainly about the feelings towards family.

He talks about this song being about accepting the fact a new chapter in ones life is opening and another is closing , forever . I reckon it’s also a metaphor of a kind for his transition genre wise. This album is telling his fans to move on and perhaps like an apology he can’t be who he used to be genre wise .
@piercingpencils_art4 жыл бұрын
What a great analysis. I can totally agree with this. I haven't had enough listens of this song just yet, but when I do I wonder what my interpretation will be. For now all I'm seeing is Anime scenes. LOL but Kevin so far has been known as a very good songwriter.
@piercingpencils_art4 жыл бұрын
Its been a few days now, and I got the interpretation that before he transitions into the next chapter of his life that he knows the change is inevitable and it will affect his music from here on. Him singing "lose her, I'll never love again" is maybe his conflict of being used to how his lifestyle and music is now and wanting things to stay the same and not letting a relationship change that versus taking the next step with this lover and compromising so he could stay with her and still pursue his music career without losing one or the other. The lyrics "as long as I can and have this time alone" isa way of maybe saying that before the change comes he will enjoy the last few moments the way they are this present time and is aware that there isn't much time left to enjoy things this way. For me, this my favorite song on this album.

Until Currents came along, Innerspeaker was my fav album by Tame Impala. I grew up with rock and so it was easy to get so lost in that album, but obviously Kevin didn't wanna stay as the dubbed "psych rock savior" forever; he's so much more talented and gifted and we've obviously seen that with his latest output. This album was so well crafted and put together. I just wanna say how I love so much that he ended this album with those loud blistering guitars, hearing them fade away with his voice really made me tear up, in a way i saw that as a callback to that raw organic sound that he started with 10 years ago. The selfish part of me wishes it was so much longer lol. Well i'm rambling now, this album was so perfect; see you in March Kevin :)

This whole album is honestly, the theme for 2020. God given timing on the drop of this whole album as well. The true genius and direction in art it takes in themes atmosphere and layers, is euphoric. The themes alone are timeless, but the character and instrumentals only help to make it the masterpiece it is. Truly this songs meaning is quite gratifying of letting go accepting, and moving on in the path you was made for. Spending time alone, accepting that being alone and being you is worth it. Ultimatlely just like the climax in this song, we will be alone, and us. But eventually that clock in life that ticks towards your future, your love, and your destiny, reaches one more hour

LYRICS: Just a moment Right before all the singing ends Wasn't brave enough to tell you That there ain't gonna be another chance It's not gone until (All that I have) And everything's still (One more hour) Minutes erasing, whatever I've done I did it for love (All that I have) I did it for fun (One more hour) Couldn't get enough (All that I have) I did it for fame (One more hour) But never for money Not for houses, not for her Not for my future children Until now [Verse 2] How could I love again? How could I ever ask for more? And to the road ahead Into a life I can't ignore (Lose her) How could I love again? (Move her) How can I love this path for sure? (Lose her) With no more time to spare (Move her) I know the answer more and more [Chorus] As long as I can, long as I can Spend some time alone As long as I can, long as I can Be the man I am [Bridge] Ooh, life is strange One more hour I could wait One more hour [Chorus] As long as I can (Lose her), as long as I can (Move her) Spend some time alone As long as I can (Lose her), as long as I can (Move her) Remember who I am As long as I can (Lose her), as long as I can (Move her) Spend some time alone As long as I can (How could I love again?), as long as I can Be the man I am [Outro] Just a minute, batter up before you go out there All your voices said you wouldn't last a minute, babe One more hour and you know your life is one to share Just a minute, baby, right before we go through here All these people said we wouldn't last a minute, dear I'm with you and I can roll into another year Just a minute, batter up before you go out there All your voices said you wouldn't last a minute, babe One more hour and you know your life is one to share Just a minute, baby, right before we go through here All these people said they wouldn't last a minute, dear I'm with you and I can roll into another year Just a minute, batter up before you go out there All your voices said you wouldn't last a minute there

I finally got to see my beloved Tame Impala live in Sydney, Australia last Thursday night with my beautiful daughter and this song reminds me of her so much. I'm right now suffering the post concert blues but at least I know there are others that understand the emotion that this perfect band evokes.

There is something very poetic about this song that illustrates how a romantic relationship can ultimately lead to peace between two people. Human understanding and the fact that man is a lonely being, even if he communicates with hundreds of people every day. It is not enough for me to listen to this song a hundred times specially the last part. ...Be the man I am...

This song is a man understanding that in life change is inevitable. He embraces his selfish nature and acknowledges that he is changing for what he views as best for himself. He does this while at the same time apologizing to his loved ones for the fact that he can no longer be the man they had come to know and love. It really is like saying good bye to someone you love knowing you’ll never see them again. He can’t go back in time to who he once was, but when he is alone he gets a chance to remember what it was that made him touch so many hearts, he gets a chance to reconnect with his truest self. At the end he is exalted to find that his true loved ones are willing to embrace the changing tides of life and stick by his side through it all. Despite their doubts on both sides they’re ready for what the future holds.
