Oh, goodness… my oldest Bourkie (2 years) Gracie is a big fan of your channel and I have to play it for her every day for her. She’ll come running and sit and watch for the whole video… My youngest… (4 month old) Rosie does not like watching the other birds and starts screaming and I have to turn on Bluey for her. Having Bourkies is like having children. They are just too funny! 😂❤️ I had to calm down a temper tantrum from my youngest 😂 I guess I’ll have to make sure my oldest is the only one watching 😂

Maybe your youngest is jealous. Perhaps because he can't sing as well as the more mature birds, and can't keep your oldest's interest exclusively on himself. ;-)

@@RosieBirds I just had an ah ha! Moment! That’s very true! Think my youngest might need to work on some vocals ❤️

Hello! I enjoy your uploads so much! I'm an American living in Italy...been here 4 years. We came here from Georgia upon our retirements. I have always loved birds, so I started building my flock after being here a bit. Since we live in a rural area, and I really don't speak Italian, I've basically had to acquire my birds at the local monthly farm animal fair. So now I have 4 cockatiels, a few finches, and, at last, 4 bourkes! Plus a flock of chickens. It has taken me 4 years to find Bourkes...just not a popular bird here...unlike the UK or the states. I know very little about the Bourkes...but the last one I brought home is a lutino. I do not know the sexes of any of the Bourkes. The lutino seems to be aggressive to the other 3 birds. I finally separated it. Is this a normal behaviour? The others are pretty chill..I have been watching for male behaviours, but not quite sure if I'm correct.

Hello Nancy and thank you. Here is a link to my book in Italy. I highly recommend a copy. www.amazon.it/Rosie-Birds-Guide-Small-Exotic/dp/198676348X/ Your Lutino is likely chasing birds of the same sex. Hens are more prone to aggression than males, although males can be aggressive to other males too. Yet, hens are very territorial when in breeding mode. Sounds like your Lutino is mature and wants to breed. Hens boss their mates, so chasing the others can't guarantee they are all hens. Doing DNA's is your best bet. There's Health Gene in Canada or iQ in Florida if you don't find an avian lab in Italy. Perhaps a neighbor who speaks both Italian and English could help. Best of luck! I always love to watch your videos! Remember me? I have 4 of your beautiful birds in Mt. They are all doing brilliant and so tame. None have bred yet. I’ve been curious to know what company you get your lovely bird swings and bells from? I can’t find them here. Hope you are doing well. Sounds like you’re recovering from a cold. Blessings!

Thank you, Sue. I usually have trouble remembering so many buyers, but I remember you very well! I thought we might be really good friends if we only lived closer. You came with your two adult daughters and we met in the parking lot of the Red Lion Inn. We had our photo taken together. I sold you a bunch of cuttlebones. Can't afford to do that any longer as their price has gone up and I can't get them in bulk like I could in 2018. I hope you are happy with your four birds. Nice to hear from you. Many Blessings, Gail

Hello Gail! Thank you for the lovely tour! I'm wondering if beauty will get a box and if so has she produced any babies? Do you still have princess? Any luck with her having babies ? Thank you! We look forward to the bands arriving as we need a handsome man for our Lili!

Boxes are ready to go up, but a lack of leg bands is delaying it. To be honest, Princess has been renamed Beauty. I think it fits her better and I like the name Blaze for her mate. They will get a nest box, but her eggs in the past have all been infertile. I hope her mate does better this year. Last year he fed her, but didn't mate with her.

@Rosie Bird ok then. Come on mother nature! Prayers up for miss Beauty's love life to improve greatly so we can have some "Blazing Beautyful" babies *:> ●€

Would love to know about what sort of veggies, fruit and possibly nuts to feed my bourke (was named Rose now renamed Rosette) as had since 15th February and I’m her second owner as her previous owner couldn’t look after her enough. Rosette originally hand raised by a breeder as well. Hence looking up more bourke safe foods to try her own.

Bourkes love veggies, but not fruit. Kale is a favorite or any green vegetable except spinach. They like spinach, but it inhibits the absorption of calcium, so avoid it. Peas, broccoli, green or lima beans and corn are all good. Any lettuce, although iceberg doesn't have value that other lettuce varieties do. Mine love rice cereal squares (like Rice Chex or a generic). The other kinds have additives that the rice doesn't, so avoid corn or wheat squares. I highly recommend getting a copy of my book which covers nutrition and so much more. Enjoy your sweet girl. Maybe consider getting her a companion bird. Blessings. www.amazon.com/Rosie-Birds-Guide-Small-Exotic/dp/198676348X/

Sweet video 💛 Thank you for showing us your birds. I have a question. How do you get to sell birds; as in do you have to be licensed some where and or registered some where? THANK YOU for any feed back 🤩
@kathleendado42302 жыл бұрын
How much do you sell yours for, please?
@RosieBirds2 жыл бұрын
@@kathleendado4230 Hello Kathleen. We raise our birds in our home. It's not a large business, so no need for a license any more than someone who raises and sells puppies. Prices vary by color rareness and if hand fed or not. They range from $125 to $325. Having a bird DNA tested for sex adds something too as we send the samples to an avian lab.

I was devastated to hear about L&M. I had been looking for a new leg band supplier and found a gentleman located in Maryland on Etsy. He was able to put together a custom order of 45 bands in 2 days. That may be an option for you if you're still having issues with getting your bands

Wish I'd heard of your contact before paying Red Bird Products for 50 bands last December. Would love to know who you are getting them from and whether you are happy with them. Might choose them next time. Red Bird asked for extra $ to print only 3 initials on our bands. They normally only do two, but L&M would do up to four at no extra cost. Am hopeful the bands turn out okay. Would you share your contact with us? You can write to me at rosie.birds@gmail.com if you prefer. Thanks much!
