Oh wow! That’s a lot of supplies! I cross reference everything with Airtable. I5 allows me to have it at my fingertips so I don’t rebuy something I already have and I put in what I paid. Scary to see all of it added up!! Of course, my categories may not work for you and that’s ok. It’s just a suggestion. In fact, I’m thinking of combining a couple for fewer categories. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m a work in progress! Good luck! 🩷

I started with a similar system! But then outgrew it….! My products are now separated by stamp/die/stencil and are grouped in numbered zipped office pouches that sit in larger bins. Binders are separated into stamp/die/stencil & topics as well, like yours. It’s SO great to go to the binders and find choices all together. It’s also pretty easy to purge, I just finished a huge purge…easy to know what I had by starting with the binders then pulling the product out of it’s pouch. Emptier pouches just get new stuff!!🤣🤣🤣. Glad you are doing well after the close encounter with the softball! 🤗

Thank you so much for sharing your organization system! I just started trying to organize my supplies for the first time in a spreadsheet, but I'm a visual person too. I was thinking it would be too much of a pain to take pictures of each set and print them on my printer--I don't know why I never thought of photocopies 😅 I am excited to adapt this for my stash and finally stop digging through every stamp set in every bin 😱 Thank you again! 😊 Btw, SO glad you're (relatively) okay after a head injury like that! 💕

Thank you very much! I don’t know what type of spreadsheet you are using, but I also use Airtable. It’s free and wonderful. I have tables for my inks, sprays, dies, stamps, etc. it makes it a breeze when I’m thinking of purchasing something and don’t know if I have it. I check the app and know in a instant.

If you use your phone to take the pics -- AND have the storage capacity in your phone -- that, too, may be a good way to prevent double purchasing.

I was thinking of stencil storage recently and thought to myself I have a 3 ring binder and some page protectors. So I took all my stencils (which right now aren’t many) and piece of cardstock in between so that I can get at least 2 stencils per sleeve. I am have been thinking about doing the same thing for my stamps, so I’m glad I found your video.

I bought a bit stronger magnetic vent cover through WalMart (online) that is 8" X 17". The extra width allows me 3 full 5 ½" panels to go into my plastic pockets. I've always beefed up the magnetic pieces using the card-type HVAC ads and the political ads that come in the mail, and then add a decorative panel to cover up the ad ( POOEY!!) These slightly thicker ones allows me to use some of the flimsier ad panels.

@@villagecardandcrafts I just want to make sure that my storage is right and my numbering is correct. Is each section numbered by its self or just each product type? Also when you have different size embossing folders then the ranger once (like spellbinder) that are larger how do you store them. If you have stamps that have words and images do you make 2 copies and place them in 2 places in your binder?
@villagecardandcrafts
@villagecardandcrafts 5 ай бұрын
I do not separate the numbering between product types. There will only be one of that number ever. The difference is the naming of the category: for example 267 floral. 268 animals, 269 words, etc. embossing folders are all stored the same way in those photo boxes. I make a little file folder for each one. I assume you watched that video? I just make a larger folder to house the larger Spellbinders folders. I have not made a second copy of stamps that have words although I’ve thought about it. If the stamp set is mainly pictures, then I store in the appropriate category. If it’s mainly words, then I store it with the words.

I've been thinking about starting a notebook so it was great to see yours. I have an organization question. I have bought a lot of my stamps at garage sales, etc. So I don't have the original packaging. It's fine with me that I don't actually know what brand things are. My question is how can I store them. I have many stamps on wood blocks that I would like to remove from the blocks and turn into cling stamps. What should I stick them to? For some reason, I haven't been able to figure out a solution.
@villagecardandcrafts
@villagecardandcrafts Жыл бұрын
Great question! I only have a half dozen or so wooden stamps, so I’m not really looking to change mine. However, they do take up a ton of space if you have a lot. You can remove the stamp and foam by heating up the block for about 10 seconds in the microwave. The problem is identifying them after removing and storage. You can take a copy of the top of the wood block OR peal off its label. You can still store in pouches or tiny zip lock style baggies. I hope this answers your question or at least points you in a direction. Good luck!

oh man! I so needed this. Thank you so much! I just subscribed to your channel. :) QUESTION: Do you seperate your stamps and dies IF they do not relate? LIke I have some sets with both, some stamps only and some dies only. Do you put the dies and stamps in the same catagory? or do you have other bins that are numbered that are ONLY stamps, ONLY dies, etc. Clear as mud? LOL Thanks again!🥰
@villagecardandcrafts
@villagecardandcrafts 5 ай бұрын
I speak Clear as Mud! Who knew? 🤣. I do not have separate bins for dies versus stamps. I use the same categories for both. If the stamp set has matching dies then they go into the same pocket. Otherwise each set gets its own pocket. Make sense?

Having Like-THEMED Items together makes it SOOO much faster & easier to make a nifty card!! A few cards that came together sooo perfectly (in my mind!) for me, now have separate folders / pockets that hold extra "dsp", card bases, embossing folders, etc. -- pretty much everything I used to make that special card. THOSE items I never lose track of because I have them more permanently resident in my memory! I know where there are if I feel they'd work with another project.

As my compulsion is to categorize E V E R Y T H I N G in my life -- down to the "Inth Degree" -- I one evening sat myself down and made myself devise a list of broader terms that I could use to keep this fetish from becoming "THE HOBBY", instead of paper crafting!! Herein are a few "for instance"s: All autos, bicycles, boats, carts, planes, trains, hot air balloons, etc., are CONVEYANCES; Every Mushroom, Flower, Tree, or Seaweed goes into FLORA; Every Slug, Worm, Centipede, Spider, Frog, Cat, Dog, Horse, Elephant, Bird, ... All Earth's creatures are FAUNA, even PEOPLE, under "2-Legged" behind "Birds"; If an item has moving parts, but is not a Conveyance, it goes into MECHANICAL, NOT TO BE CONFUSED with "MECHANISMS" which is the designation for the items that make our cards interactive in some way. I DO still have a mess stashing things like HEARTS and such "icons" (but not STARS, because they fall into the category called OFF WORLD). Then there's EARTH, WIND, FIRE, WATER -- Each a separate group. Hmmm ... It DID seem simpler in the doing, though it doesn't sound like it the telling!! You probably see why I haven't yet begun to categorize my STAMPS! That Stamp Set WENDY used in her demo as to her How-To t o t a l l y sent a chill through me!! However in the world will she E V E R locate that darling little HEART in that set?!?!?!? And WHAT has a Heart to do with BIRDS? And BRANCHES?!? Where's my meds?!? Be well, All ... And Thanks BUNCHES for the tute, Wendy!!!
