A lot of echidna's probably grew up in fatherless households, or mothers that use EBT cards instead of finding real jobs. And when kids have parents like that, it's no wonder they're driven to do crimes and shit. So the island falling may be a blessing in disguise, because now Knuckles can redefine what being an echidna means.

I think the story is interesting and the characters are charming. When it was made, it was supposed to take the Sonic franchise in a new direction and personally I feel it succeeded with flying colors. Unfortunately SEGA and the current Sonic creators don't agree or care about it at all. And the people who do like it get laughed at and ridiculed. It's almost like the cartoon is a laughing stock in the Sonic community, and they don't seem to be bothered that they're hurting a lot of fans(like me) feelings when they do that.
