I am curious about the use of 2 Nas actually, the 1st na (with 2 circles) and the 2nd na( just after it). They do represent the same sound, I believe. Are these two genuinely different sounds or just written as per historical tradition( as Anna sir said, the 2nd na is only written, if the n is at the start of words, while the 1st na is only written for n at the middle of words)?

Hello Sir and Ma'am. thank you soo much for teaching the alphabets. I am from Karnataka and learning Tamil now as I have moved to Thoothukudi, I did not get how you would write 'cha' in tamil. As in Chennai or Chandru - some say it's called sennai. Another thing is, how do we specify stressed letters, like double consonants - akka, dodda, batta. Thank you sir maam. you are very nice teachers
@bharatrai7607 Жыл бұрын
In Tamil letter/ symbol for cha and sa are same unlike Kannada/ Hindi.
@ninjawarrior531 Жыл бұрын
Hi Anupriya, In Tamil, cha takes the form as 'cha', only and only if 'ich' is preceding. Tamil is a very old language, it is before sanskrit. The actual name of the city is Sennai, and that's what is written in Tamil. There is no 'ha' in original tamil, so, you don't find the hard breath cha, pha, bha sounds in original tamil words. to accommodate borrowed words from sanskrit, grantha letters were introduced, which has 'ha'. but still people avoid use of grantha letters, and make use of actual tamil letters.
@anupriyashankaranhalli766 Жыл бұрын
@@ninjawarrior531 thank you so much sir. one more question, why in english தமிழ் is written as tamil and not as tamir or tameer, why ழ் is written as 'la' pronunciation. thank you sir. i am still learning tamil, so sorry for basic questions sir. 😊
@ninjawarrior531 Жыл бұрын
@@anupriyashankaranhalli766 One thing you must know while learning a language is, every language has it's own beauty and world. Complexity comes when one language tries to mingle with the other. You have brought the right word தமிழ், now in English language, there is no way you can make the sound of ழ். And hence, it's written as 'zh' to signify ழ். Can you write Arnold Schwarzenegger in Hindi ? You can, but there will be a variance as it's an English word, which is based from Latin and Latin sounds have different tonal forms compared to Hindi, which is derived from Sanskrit. Now because the sound ழ் more or less takes the form of like a faded 'l' sound, so the English experts in consultation with Tamil Literature indicated it as 'l' and you see Tamil and not Tamir or Tameer. ழ் is never ர (Ra) or ற (Rra), so saying Tamizh as Tamir or Tameer is not correct in the linguistic form. And if you write Tamizh, the non tamil speaking people will not know the sound of ழ், and so it's apt to keep the தமிழ் as Tamil in English. Another thing you must know is, in Tamil, we don't use conjunct words or cluster words. For example, the word 'Cluster' will be written in tamil as kalasatr or kalastra as a transliteration. But such words don't occur in Tamizh. Tamizh is a liner language, and when people learn it coming from a different linguistic background, it's very natural to write everything phonetically. Tamizh is different in that respect. Enjoy your tamizh course, if you are keen to learn more, you can visit the Tamil Virtual Academy KZbin channel where Tenses, Person, Verbs and sentence building is taught. Thank you, keep learning.

If you live in Tamil Nadu, basic spoken Tamil is sufficient (Spoken Tamil and pure Tamil are very different).. As for writing part, if you live in TN then it might help you read the store names and all..

दीपा जी एक बात बताइए,तमिल में न तो ट ,त , थ की जगह த अक्षर यूज होता है और प, फ, ब की जगह ப ये अखर उसे होता है तो ऐसे तो बहुत confusan होती है जैसी हमने लिखा थाली तो तमिल पड़ने वाला कन्फ्यूज होगा की उसे ताली पढ़े या थाली पढ़े या दाली पढ़े
