I found Lizzie character to be very unforgivable when she made fun of Katie’s eating disorder it become abundantly clear that no matter what trauma she has, I won’t be able to like or forgive her

Just finished the book! I ADORE Claire and Gibs, they had so much potential! But Chloe (in my opinion) put no effort. The plot felt scattered and LIZZIE WAS SO INTOLERABLE

Shannon was bullied, had horrendous family life, painfully thin from malnourishment, no confidence as a result, her past and current circumstances fully impacted her life 😭 all she wanted was a quiet life and a loving home and for her family to be safe. She felt so fleshed out and real!!! Apart from obsessing over Joey and Gibsie, Aoife and Claire had NOTHING else to them, so one dimensional!! I dnno wtf happened and how Chloe got it so wrong and flat with them!! And now I’ve been made to hate Lizzie so much I don’t even want to read her book?

I am so angry at Chloe and the publisher who decided that releasing Taming 7 first was a good idea. For those who don't know, Chloe was planning to release Claiming 10 and only then Taming 7. And now this rearrangement makes the plot and characters look like a complete mess. I didn't recognize Claire. Claire and Gibsy's relationship was weird too. I'm not even sure if they as a couple will be together next because Claire undermined Gibsy's trust twice. She's his closest person. I love Lizzie, but even here I can't justify her. The girl is out of line. How Chloe plans to rehabilitate her, I don't even know if it's possible. Lizzie has always been hated, but now Chloe has made her a horrible villain. I hope Chloe and the publisher are biting their elbows over the mistake they made in deciding to publish Taming 7 first when the storyline was supposed to be Lizzie's book. If Chloe had stuck to the original plan, everyone would have been happy and I'm sure a Gibsy book would have been perfect.

I couldn’t agree more. This was a filler book. Gibsie and Claire didn’t even act like what we’ve been used to in the previous 4 books. I don’t understand giving Gibsie extra trauma when the boy already had trauma with his sister and dad. Plus he’s ADHD which comes with so many struggles that could have been portrayed in the book. Claire had zero personality or life outside of Gibsie. She played Hockey, she had hobbies, she actually had a personality and it was reduced to nothing. Don’t get me started on Lizzie. The entire book was the Lizzie show setting up for the next book. Even when she pushed Gibsie in the water in K13 she felt remorse which redeemed her a tiny bit, but the way she behaved in this book was horrendous. I don’t know how she can be redeemed anymore. I’m devastated! I wanted Claire and Gibsie moving from friends into lovers and we got trauma dumped! They deserved so much more!

So upsetting isn’t?! Chloe full on butchered Gibsie and Claire. Having hobbies and a sunny personality wasn’t enough for Claire, she could have done so much more with her character! Instead she highlighted how flat she was with zero backbone 😩 And now I hate Lizzie so much I’m not interested in reading her books? I’m so sad, I dnno what Chloe was thinking

⭐you are team "no spoilers", not I'm mentioning here some things ⭐ To be honest I ended the book thinking this was my favourite from Chloe - note I'm biased because I absolutely ADORE Gibs 🧡 However your review is on point! About their relationship I was not expecting much, and I'm not mad about it tbh. But dont get the girl act wayyyy out of character on the plot twist. That k*lled the vibes, Chloe! Also, I ended the book missing closure on a lot of topics. The water phobia; real hardcore confrontation between Gibs and his mom (related to the trauma and to the fact she forces "dad" and "brother" roles on him - like, lady, back off!); and I still didn't get Lizzie's sister s*icide. Speaking of Lizzie....you know what, I have nothing good to say except I don't look fwd to the next book. Gibs deserved a better book...but he will always be my boo anyway 🧡🧡🧡

I completely agree!!! So disappointing! Claire was Little Miss Sunshine but other than that, there was nothing else to her which just made her boring. Chloe did not need to add that trauma to make the story more interesting as there was already so much to the story that if she had gone through it all properly, like there was that one scene where Claire starts to help Gibsie overcome his fear of the water in the bath tub and then nothing for the rest of the book, also wasn’t he supposed to try and get into the academy? I loved Lizzie in the previous books but in this book she was just a bully, no idea how Chloe is going to redeem her character because she was a cvnt. This did not feel like a romance book. It was missing the ride or die feeling of a relationship, it felt more like they were in a relationship because of the convenience of being childhood best friends. Gibsie barely fights for Claire and Claire just accepts the bare minimum and when she does ask for more and Gibsie shuts her down, she just forgives straight away the next day.

This, THIS WHAT YOU JUST SAID 😭 there were zero stakes, I couldn’t care less if Claire and Gibsie didn’t end up together, I didn’t root for them ONCE, their relationship was just damn convenient for them. And Claire’s desperation for Gibsie made me wiiiiinnce, like girl grow a damn backbone! I got excited when she went on the date with that other guy and thought ‘omg we’re finally getting somewhere’ but he kisses her and she freaks out 😩 BACK to square one. It was so dry, it wasn’t a romance AT ALL! It felt like Chloe was lazy because she really deep down just wanted to get on with Claiming 10 and finish the series!!!!

Thank you. Feel the exact same. I think Chloe has a lot more ideas for the Lizzie/hughie book and that was why it was the original 5th book. But in order to appease fans she was pressured to write this book without having a clear plan for how their story should go. It's a shame. Maybe with Lizzie's backstory already established she wouldn't have had to write Lizzie so horrible or she wouldn't have come off so horrible. It's such a mess.

That’s exactly how I feel none of these characters feel the same anymore like in Johnny & shans books Tbh I hate Lizzie in this book but I’ve read worse behavior from dark romance hero’s and forgave them so I think I can forgive Lizzie bc it obvious she’s gonna have an arc also low key think her & gibs might be related And THANK YOU it felt so weird to me Claire’s character in this where tf was the sunshine? She was basically obsessed w gibs but then outed his secret bc she was mad at Lizzie “ rightfully so “ but still Jesus wtf and she sorta lied Lizzie’s sister wasn’t marks accomplice It’s soooo obvious Chloe wanted to write c10 but she promised fans gibs & Claire and I hated that truly bc they weren’t gonna get a fair book

Agree wholeheartedly with all of this, my heart rated it 5 stars purely for the feels and how much I love this series, but my head gave it 4 at a push. The ending of this was rushed and an absolute shit storm and I hated Claire so much for what she did. This was a Lizzie prequel and nothing more - too much left unanswered 😭😭 I’m dreading Lizzies books because I actually dont care to read anything from her POV 🤣 - I fear for the way this series is going and what Chloe has done to the characters.

Shelby you are deffo the original Boys of Tommen Stan, I swear you were half the reason these books hit TikTok so hard last year? However this is deffo not a spoiler free review even without the last three or so minutes 😂 I feel like I know whole plot, especially with the use of the phrase ‘outing him’ it seems like I should save my reading hours for something else 😂📚 Guessing there was a loooot of filler. I only ever read Binding and keeping although I do own Saving, so maybe I wait til you give us a review of the sixth one that’s she’s pulled it back for? Hopefully anyway 😅

i completely agree with the 6 books. i didn't like it, one because books that focus around alcoholism and use it to villainize characters and excuse behavior because of it, also because aofie had no character. the timeline was also annoying that it kept repeating from 13s books. i also don't like lizzie's character. she is pointlessly mean, and everyone on social media is saying "you hate her cuz you don't understand her" or "she has trauma" but the whole book focuses on her being mean and not admitting how she's acting is wrong. idk, i think CW kind of ruined the characters, i wouldn't have been happy with the 13 books.

Oh no, that’s so disappointing 😞. I was really looking forward to this book because Gibsie was my favourite character in the “13” books. I loved his humour and I also loved the dynamic between him and Claire. I was absolutely gagging for the banter between them again. tbh I didn’t bother to skip the spoilers as I knew by then I was going to give it a miss, and once you described the ending I now know that I definitely won’t bother…so sad, what a missed opportunity 😢

@@ExLibris-Alys i am also someone who loves this series and read the first 2 books years ago before it went viral and i think i can safely say, they are not the same anymore. idk if it's the traditional publishing or the fact that she rushed to have it out-- but they are do not hit the same anymore and i hope she can finish hugh/patrick/lizzie better than this. of course i think you should still read it and form your own opinion, but i do agree it was very disappointing but i am not surprised by that.

this is what happens when an author does fan service. the claire and gibsie fans were very loud and she ran with that. the og story was supposed to be lizzie and hugh first, then feely, and the last one was claire and gibs.... tbh i liked hugh in this book a lot even though people were giving this poor man a massive headache, but all the girls suffered badly. shannon is still the most fleshed out fmc imo, but idk if i am interesting in lizzie anymore bc she wrote her horribly in this one. in addition to this, their story ended so poorly. it was cut very short and that was quite jarring to me. the first 2 couples got well over 1,000 pages of story, but idk why this was just 450-- and half of that was johnny, liz, hugh, and shannon??? they had their moments and it was time to leave that in the past and develop these 2, but no she did not write them like that. i also found gibs to be an extension of johnny and lowkey always under his shadow. i hope hugh and feely are written out of the whole "rugby" "johnny's best friend trope" bc i need more character development from those 2.
