Laince Lenetta that’s backcountry, it’s actually a high alpine snowfield that feeds into a rockslide. Next time you drive to Cannon look up to the left after you pass the Cannon Cliff and you’ll see it. I can also dm you a google earth map. Also yeah, if I see you up there let’s do some runs

Great video. But i dont think you should be telling skiers in front of you to get out of the way. Its up to you to avoid them.
@extreme_ryan_delena
@extreme_ryan_delena 5 жыл бұрын
Paul Seavey I actually “look out, coming down” not “get out.” I know it is my responsibility to avoid them, so if I try to pass someone, I try to give them a warning just in case they make an erratic movement.

Yeah and Loon is over priced, over groomed, full of snobs and over zealous ski patrol.
@extreme_ryan_delena
@extreme_ryan_delena 6 жыл бұрын
Nathan Hoyt yeah, that’s why I liked Cannon. I couldn’t stand the fact that they’ll pull your pass at Loon just for skiing inbounds unmarked glades. They are the only resort I know that’s that strict about off trail skiing. Plus there’s not enough challenging terrain. Like at least leave some moguls on your “double black”.

Extreme Ryan Delena Yeah, 10-15 years ago I was riding a newly opened trail in early December and on my last run I cut through some trees to avoid a flat and unbeknownst to me they had just roped the trail off. There were beginners ahead of me and I got "pulled over" by ski patrol. I had a Loon/Waterville/Cannon season pass that year. A month later I was in line for third gondola and got with 8“ of fresh pow and got pulled out of line when they scanned my pass. They made me sit in the ski patrol office until 10:30, then watch a safety movie followed by a test. Totally pissed, never went back. Anyway, like your vids dude, keep it up and have fun bro.
@extreme_ryan_delena
@extreme_ryan_delena 6 жыл бұрын
Nathan Hoyt wow, that’s ridiculous, and could have been solved with a simple explanation at most mountains. Even Sunday River has a boundary to boundary policy and if you end up on a closed trail you can say you didn’t know. But at Loon you either have to take the fall for being in the woods or poaching.

btw do u have any tips for freeride skiers which are just starting
@extreme_ryan_delena
@extreme_ryan_delena 6 жыл бұрын
Luka Čuk the best way to improve freeride skills is to pick a run with a lot of features such as rock jumps and practice it for a while, get more aggressive each time, add bigger drops, little tricks here and there. That’s a good way to build confidence so you can really attack the tough slopes and expand your comfort zone. Learn to scope lines from below so you can easily find your way from above and learn to use resources like google earth for backcountry travel. I wouldn’t have found half the stuff in the video without google earth. Make sure you’re always practicing safety, wait for days with soft snow to step out of your comfort zone and go after big lines, especially out west. Practice self arrest with and without skis to make sure you know what to do immediately if something goes wrong. Other than that just have fun with it. backcountry/freeride skiing is the best kind, it gets you closer to nature than a cut trail ever will and you get to experience the mountains in truest form. There’s nothing like it.

Did a local show you these spots or did you find them on your own. There’s lots of good glades up there just need a lot of snow for them to be good

I've been trying to figure out how to enter and exit it for a while! I ski at cannon a few times a week and just can't figure it out. Is it near that bench and grill hidden off to the side? Awesome video by the way, makes me sad that the season is over but gets me pumped for next season!
@andrewwilson5631
@andrewwilson5631 5 жыл бұрын
B T The entrance is maybe 50 ft or so before the bench. But go with someone who has done it, and has good judgement. The upper cliffs (before the one you see from the road) aren’t huge but have bad landings. Go with a buddy
